Hello again Little Tree.
I voted that I am a Vegetarian because I don't like the taste of meat or fish. But, I never really called myself a vegetarian because I still eat meat or fish sometimes, it just depends. I hate eating meat which you have to chew hard before you can swallow it, it's terrible. So, it's mainly because of that and the taste that I don't eat it.
I mainly feed myself with pasta, pizzas, dairy products and potatoes. They are all ready-made dishes because I hate cooking, I am too lazy for it. When I want to eat something, it's in a minute, not two hours after. I also nourish myself with chocolate and snacks and junk food. I almost never eat vegatables or fruits, now that I think of it.
The thing is that I only eat out of pleasure and greediness, and vegetables do not seem appealing to me. There was a time when I ate one Mac Do per week because the meat in the hamburger was ok. But I got tired of it.
Also, when I'm in holidays I generally have no lunch. Just breakfast and dinner, with some junk food in the middle.
I know that is not healthy at all, but I'm still in good health. I won't eat what is good for the health just because it is, I will only eat what I like.:p

Like everything else it tastes like chicken. No seriously I would expect it to be fatty, quite tough and similar in taste to duck
**Edit**
Remembered relevent portion of a song by The Vandals:
"Now back to my health
I really don't need the vegetable
All covered in filth,
it's almost uneatable
Meat makes you strong
so strong that you can say
Who's the man? Who's the man now?
50 serving from just one cow"

I don't eat any meat that comes from the pig. :) Nothing religious, just a personal idea I have. The pig has always been my favorite animal, and one day I want a miniature pig at home. So it's kind of an ethical choice. You don't eat your friends, do you? :)

I love most veggies and fruits but my favorite dish is pig...almost any part. I love pork chops and ham and bacon and boston butt and pork roast and ribs and I love it roasted or fried or broiled or grilled or smoked or bbq'ed. I could eat pig at every meal and for snacks. But I do eat a balance diet. I love cows and chickens and seafood too. (I don't feel a bit guilty unless I eat all the bbq.)

But, I am wondering: why would we feel guilty to eat animals that we think are more intelligent than others? I don't see why animals who are seen as being less intellgent would deserve less consideration.
I think it really is a question of culture: here in France, or in the States it would be seen as strange to eat a dog. But, in India were cows are sacred, some people might find it very offensive to eat a cow, whereas here in France, it's natural for people to eat it.
So this is why I am not offended by people who eat dogs even if I love dogs (even without a sauce on them :p) . I know it's just differences of culture.

Inteligence - does it matter here? How about some really dull person?
I voted for the second one. Vegetarian yes, being normal, well I'm not sure about that :) Not eating meat happened to me - I was 14, eating chicken and bit into one that wasn't well done (vein or what it was) - that feeling of .... "unwellness" just stuck ... and since then I find it very natural for me, that is I dont force myself into it and dont even think about meat as about a food...and hrough the time the reasons just snow-balled.

I'm a "normal vegetarian" haha whatever that means. I was raised lacto-ovo vegetarian and I just stayed that way. ;) My parents both became vegetarians when they were kids because they didn't like the taste of meat, so they raised me that way too. It's not ethical, it's just habit. I've never had meat, aside from occasional tastes.

Yeah, I am a vegetarian who consumes fish. Though I do consider that this practice is no better. I don't judge anyone on what they eat, I just want to do what I feel is the right thing for me. I love animals soooooooo much.
Pescetarianism ... A diet in which the only animals consumed are fish or other seafood
Vegaquarian ... I like this term for my eating choice
Once in a blue moon I have meat, as in at Christmas, I ate turkey with all the fixings because it was just something that was expected of me (but twist my rubber arm already..) :p [I get mad at myself for these exceptions, but I remind myself that I suppose that I am only human ... a greedy one at that]

Haha, yes well I do that too. I was raised without Oreos! It was very sad for a child to not be able to have Animal Crackers and Oreos. I don't think Oreos have animal products in them anymore.
But I am guilty of gummy bear type things and stuff like that in addition to animal crackers. Do animal crackers still have animal products in them? I just had some the other day and didn't read the ingredients list.

I'm a carnivore...I eat meat daily, though not a lot of it. I mostly eat chicken because cow meat seems to coarse for me. I do eat vegetables, but they're mostly cooked out of their nutritional content (with the addition of a gazillion spices). Fish is a once in a month thing, only because everyone else gets tired of it...I'm trying to avoid shellfish (I love shrimps) because they make you groggy the next day. I drink alot of tea and, water so that my digestive system keeps regulating itself after all that imbalance..but, I do plan to stick to a variety of vegetables..

I'm a vegetarian only because I don't like the taste of meat and fish. I get my protein from tofu and beans, though.

Also, when I'm in holidays I generally have no lunch. Just breakfast and dinner, with some junk food in the middle.
I know that is not healthy at all, but I'm still in good health. I won't eat what is good for the health just because it is, I will only eat what I like.:p
I am very similar, I don't cook much and I should do it more because I don't like too much to eat so much pasta (but oh well, that's culturally expected of me :D and well a whole week without pasta is quite close to hell on earth for us anyway ;)) and stuff like that.
If I get up after 10 I skip breakfast :D
As for meat, I voted I'm mostly carnivore, even when I think "wow I didnt eat any meat today" I realise I did, even just some little ham in a sandwich or stuff. It's just natural to me. Actually I agree with one of my Eastern European friends (meat is big there and being a veggie is hard) who said that it doesn't feel like a whole meal if there's not meat :D I'm not that extreme as in I can imagine a meal without meat, but not several meals like that :P
My parents keep complaining that I dont eat fruits and vegs but I do! I didn't do it much as a kid I admit  but now I do, well there's lots of vegs I don't like but there's enough I like as well... although I don't eat them as often as I should because they're sold (or they are naturally) in big portions and buying them means I have to eat the same thing for days (and quickly after I've bought it!) if I don't want it to rot in the fridge...

You go weeks wondering about in the woods? I have an extra compass you can have, it was blessed by a priest that used to be an accountant and it will always get you safely to any taxation centre in the world. :)
I hate the thought of anything having to die so I can be nourished. I was vegetarian for a long time and then my doctor said after a check up that my blood was so low it was dangerous and that I had to have heme iron a couple of times a week or face seriously debilitating illness. So I do now. Iron pills dont work for me, only make me feel terrible. It has to be heme iron from meat. sad really.

This absolutely qualifies as "Necessary to eat it to live." Don't feel any worse about this than if you had no food but an animal, and had to eat it not to starve to death.

Well I'll eat meat and veg and fruit and nuts and grains and so on. Pretty much everything except fish. Might as well ask me to eat alien as eat fish.
But diet is personal choice, surely? I have friends who are vegetarian because they are morally opposed to eating meat, and friends who are vegetarian who don't like the taste of it.
As for me, I try to be fairly balanced, so there will be days when I have no meat and days when I do. Mainly it's chicken but ocassionally we have beef. Today we're having beef in honour of the fact that my step-son is coming here today, and there will be leftovers to do something interesting with.
On Boxing Day we have venison, which I particularly like. We used to have it on Christmas Day until my husband told the kids we were eating Rudolph, and then I had a rebellion on my hands!

You can actually get farmed venison for a decent price in many places. I can get, for instance, organically formed venison steaks for about 5 Canadian a pound, which is pricey for meet, but well worth it, being that it is far healthier than beef.

 fish n' chips! You know it's a really long time since I had that. Yes, I don't mind fish n' chips really, but cod is quite bland and haddock is increasingly expensive. And I guess really I'd rather eat something else. Tuna is okay.
We don't hunt, I'm not sure hunting deer is permitted in UK any more. Access to guns is very limited. Venison is farmed and is becoming increasingly available, often via farmers' markets. We got ours from Tesco, which is tantamount to hunting at this time of year ;)

I wonder where I can buy venison. I don't see it in the supermarkets. My uncle is a hunter and used to give us some venison, but that was years ago. I bet my wife has never tasted venison. I remember it being a bit more game-yer (how do you spell that?) than beef. I also wonder if farm raised is less gamey. In the US we are overwhelmed with deer. Since there are no longer natural preditors, there are supposed to be more deer now in the US than when Columbus landed. And given the population density, they are quite a hazard on the roads. I've nearly hit a couple myself, not in New York City of course, but out in the suburbs. but beieve it or not, even in New York City (in the more remote sections of Staten Island, which happens to have a lot of open park area) we have some wild deer. Hunting is quite common in the country area, as I would expect in Canada as well.
Oh I ike cod. For me all fish, white fish that is, is similar in taste; it's how one prepares and seasons it that makes the cuisine.

So, I did some research. Deer stalking (i.e. on foot, with gun) is still permitted in UK though it is seasonal. Deer hunting is no longer permitted, as hunting, in UK, refers to 'with dogs' and hunting with dogs has been banned for a number of years now.
Do you have farmers markets in New York? I'm sure you must be able to get venison somewhere within the environs of New York. I would start with a local butcher, if they don't stock it they might be able to tell you who does.

Where is the i'm a "semi" vegetarian but not by choice but because a medical condition dictates i should not eat red meat?
Truth is i cant eat some veggies either! My main diet consists of fish and chicken for meats, rice, pasta and potatoes as a soluble base, tummy friendly veggies like carrots and mushrooms and courgette, and small amounts of veggies that contain insolubles, but generally are to be eaten last. No fatty foods, greasy foods, easy on the dairy products (need it for a balanced diet), no citrus fruits and berries must be blended so insolubles are broken down. No wholegrain breads. :(
I can eat bananas! :D

Buffalo is good! I've tried some really strange meats...I learned not too long ago that I LOVE wild boar...
