I disagree with the introduction to Jude the Obscure on this page for

Do you disagree that the story is about love and desire or is this your dissenting view?

The novel is very much about desire, not so much about love. Jude is very much under the spell of erotolepsy (Thomas Hardy's made-up word: a more manly way of saying nymphomaniac). He may love Sue but it's more of an infatuation.
