Should be remembered as most shrewd and level-headed author of C20th.

I have fond menories of Royal Flash but went back and read Flashman but found that distasteful due to one activity of Mr. Flashman that was a one time thing I'm informed so never went back to them but I see they get reprinted from time to time. Occasionally the historical adventure novels loving part of me thinks about trying again. But yes he was one of the greats up there with Kenneth Roberts - another hidden treasure.
