Which books could you reccomend to me?

Hi there (and happy reading in the new year :))

I have to read books (for my school) by following authors: F. Weldon, Malcom Bradbury, K. Amis, B. S. Johnson and Ch. Brooke-Rose. The problem is, I don't have any experience with them so I don't have any idea what should I choose, and I don't think to choose a novel blindly... especially not with Jonshon and Brooke-Rose.

I tried to read reviews of their books, but that didn't help a lot... what I need is recommendation by some experienced bookworm. :)

Could you recommend something interesting, really worthy of investing my time and effort in it?
