it might have been the pull of the moon. who knows? anyway it's been a long time since i've posted a poem here so..
the trees are quiet
sacrifice is made to the gods
and they send down
little gusts of wind
in appreciation
the stars in the sky
reflect the eyes i cannot see
hidden under the wide brim
of a playful cap
as we imagine
greatness.
why have we never talked before?

Lovely, my dear, especially that quiet, tentative ending.

Your last line could be moved to end each stanza without hurting the poem because in a way, it does close each stanza. Love it!

this is very good writing. you leave much to the reader's imagination, something I've always really liked because the poem sort of hangs just above my comprehension, pulling me onward toward those stars you so craftily introduce. a very fine poem.

I just can't get over how that last line affects me, every time I read it.

I think this is a superb poem! I love how brief it was and how you inspired thought by leaving so much to the imagination. Love it!
