On the Assassination of a Politician
by mazHur
Politics has never been clean,
It had Adam and Eve chucked out from Eden;
history is replete with its sanguinary 'marvels',
Literature is full of Anthonies and fellows like Brutus;
it gave birth to World War One and Two
and God knows when the smoldering
tussle will end up in a Third World War;
politics runs the show of nations,
politics shapes the fate of people;
politics is an epidemic,nay, a pandemic,
it infects every home, every office,
every burg, town,state and people;
the cleverer a person, the better politician is he,
a ruler of men, a man of his own rules;
but seldom lies easy his head
from the infestation of his self-inflicted disease;
usually he recovers-and if he does
he's hailed as a statesmen, a leader of men
but sometimes he has to pay a heavy price
for recuperating, for his survival,
when his life line is cut short,
and he's destined to suffer a fate
sundered by the flying bullet of a jealous sniper,
or collateral death besides an over-zealous suicide bomber,
all that's left of him is dead red
blob of a pool of wasted blood,
or a charred black handful of dust.

Quiet, controlled passion, heartfelt. I call myself an unpolitical person, whatever that means. Sometimes I think it's my way of copping out, of making an excuse for my laziness and yes, what many call apathy. But I am sorry. We are all so confused.

I like the broad view of your poem. As I read it, I could see politics as a wave rolling over all time, places, people... the invisible workings of it all

:( :bawling: :(
WHY? Why does this happen? Ampoule's right, we are all so confused...
and some, angry.

This thread will remain open as long as it is the poem that is discussed here and not current events or politics.
Have a nice day.

the learned mod warns me to restrict discussion to the poem and that's fine. Please watch CNN or Skynews for the answer to your question. Meantime thanks to you all for your comments.

The politician serves in this life, but
He is subject to his own foolishness
A legend inspires even in death
And there is beyond reproach.

Cars are burnt
Buildings are destroyed
Riots you find everywhere
Poems are written
Tributes are given
To the politician
On his assassination
Several poor people
Who everyday die
And have their belongings snatched away
In all these riots
Are forgotten
No 'soag' is enforced
On their innocent death
Or death of their wishes
Why is it?
Why is this
The way of life?
Why are some cares less for?
Why others more?
Isn't this question
Even more terrible
Than assassination
Of a politician

Just been a bit busy. 1st paper exams are yet to come...
And if i ever gave u the impression that all i seek is vengeance then it's my bad. I never had any intentions to see history repeat itself, mazHur. Particularly when this history's full of blood and lacerated limbs. So u'll always find me complaining in this case, i guess, but this time it just wont be my country i'll be feeling sorry about, thats it.

Mazhur, you are a carver of images and I am envious, really speaking. I wish I were you.
Alas I am what I am and nobody else in substance.
You whittle out wonderful ideas and you have a vast repertoire of course.
I have read you time and again every time you turn out something mind boggling!
Few can craft such wonderful notions of politics all we feel deep down at heart and no worlds can cascade from us the way that flows from you.
