View Full Version : The Perfect Partner?

LadyW

Okay. List all the qualities of a "perfect partner"... these can be based on a character from a novel or a film and even on someone you know.
It can be in regards to looks (although.. personally, I think this has minor relevance), persona, intelligence, temper etc.
We may want to ask ourselves, does this person exist?
Hmmm...

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I had a boyfriend once who had a list of 100+ criteria that his perfect partner had to fulfil. He was looking for his perfect match and would dump a girl if it turned out she likes coffee (because he likes tea better). His 'method' was to start a relationship, then check his criteria and then dump the girl rather than checking first before he gets together with her.
He's still looking for his perfect match 6 years and LOTS of girl friends later :D

I believe I found my perfect partner. I mean, I know it can sound pretty stupid at age 16, but 4 years ago I met this boy. He is intelligent, handsome in his own way, really understanding, makes me laugh and etc. We dated for 2 years (okay, I can't say we dated, because we were so little, but you get the point :p) then he moved to the other side of the country.
But we still talk, we still have the same opinion about our relationship and we often see each other :D so, I believe he will be the one, I can't exactly imagine myself without him in the future.

But till then, I'm enjoying my opportunities! :)

 I sometimes have something like that, like I meet someone and then find out that, to use the same, example, he loves coffee and I'm like "oh my god but I don't like cofee" and then after a moment I realise that it doesn't matter  but for a second it scares me

The perfect partner? I thought I had found him, but nothing will happen this time either

Or...beware when you think you've found the perfect man, you'll find out he's actually gay. (otherwise he wouldn't seem perfect lol)

Night, it is a Cat Stevens song

Im looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will take me for myself,
And if I find my hard headed woman,
I wont need nobody else, no, no, no.

Im looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me do my best,
And if I find my hard headed woman
I know the rest of my life will be blessed -- yes, yes, yes.

I know a lot of fancy dancers,
People who can glide you on a floor,
They move so smooth but have no answers.
When you ask whyd you come here for?
I dont know why?

I know many fine feathered friends
But their friendliness depends on how you do.
They know many sure fired ways
To find out the one who pays
And how you do.

Im looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me feel so good,
And if I find my hard headed woman,
I know my life will be as it should -- yes, yes, yes.

Im looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me do my best,
And if I find my hard headed woman...

It has resonance for me because I am too willing to accept doing just what I have to, and any future partner may require to give me a swift kick in the pants every now and again;)

Goodness me... thats so wonderful for you and it has also restored some faith too (for personal reasons), so thankyou. I met my boyfriend when I began highschool in 2004. I was his best friend for about a year and a half until we both finally had the courage to tell eachother of our feelings. We've been together for about a year and two months and Im hopelessly in love with him. Honestly? He drives me insane... I can't stand the boy but I do love him with all my heart. wow, that's wonderful as well (: I couldn't stand Daniel (that's his name) when we were dating, but now I just can't wait to see him again, spend the entire night hugging him while we watch some movie. We can't argue anymore, when we do it's for about 2 minutes, then we just kiss each other and say that it's very stuppid of us to be arguing when we know it will make us just feel sad :)

...and Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Eva Longoria....I fear I've gone to far...

I'm not going to pretend that I don't place physical attractiveness rather high in my criteria for the "perfect match" because I do (even when I'm not looking for perfect, I look for physically attractive women). Slender, "well-formed" (Any guy should know what I'm getting at; I wont go into specifics :p ) girls are preferable. Also, my match would have to be intellegent, talkative (or else we would be a very quiet couple), republican, and shorter than me (I always feel awkward with taller women...). Those are just a few of the criteria that popped into my mind.

and tell me
a) whether her porn star lips are real
b) if they are, why hasn't she had half of them cut off yet?
c) answer the same questions for her udders
(even my hubby calls her a jumbo-boobs b*tch although he likes udders, normally)
d) does she have make up on? yes or no?

Ok, a serious answer now I've had time to think about it a bit. Someone who will push me to accomplish my goals (like my invention prototype which sits half finished or the guitar I bought 5years ago but still cant play); Someone who understands that I am not always going to know the right thing to say; Someone that realises just because I do not wear my heart on my sleeve does not mean that I do not feel; Someone I can tell my dreams to without them laughing at me; Someone who will let me help them when they fall; Someone who understands there are certain faults in my character I have carried all of my life, if I could change them I would but I cant; Someone who is interested in the world.

Beauty is not shallow no... but it can be a misrepresentation of a persons character AND it's not everything (although it does play a major role in attraction). But, I believe you can find beauty in everybody... they dont have to be on the front of a magazine airbrushed.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder my friend.

Beauty in the cinema and magazines is most often forged... dig a little deeper than that Lote.

Mr Lote, you should really increase your vocab. sexy (Jolie) is not the same as pretty and pretty is not the same as beautiful

beautiful is used to describe someone, usually a woman or child, who is attractive in a very special and noticeable way.
pretty is usually used to describe a girl or woman who is good-looking, with regular features. It can also be used to describe a boy or young man who has an attractive but feminine face.
handsome is usually used to describe a man or boy who is good-looking, with strong regular features. It can also be used to describe a woman, usually an older woman, who has attractive but masculine features.
good-looking can be used to describe anyone who you think is nice to look at.
attractive is used to describe someone who looks good in a way that attracts sexual interest • I can see he's handsome, but I don't find him very attractive.
gorgeous and stunning are emphatic ways of saying that someone is very attractive. Gorgeous is used mostly in spoken English. ➔ See also beautifulhttp://pewebdic2.cw.idm.fr/

LadyW
12-27-2007, 06:22 AM
Bravo sleepywitch!
The women you see are perfected by the media... they are socially accepted as "pretty" with good-looks and regular features.
Beauty is something much different... its special, attractiveness in a notable way. A hell of alot deeper than large breasts and a big pout.

Beauty on its own is not a good foundation for a relationship with a person which is what this thread was originally about.
Yes billions... and for what? There are MUCH more important things going on in the world today. I can't deny that everybody has a little vanity in them but seriously... it is not the be all and end all is it?
Beauty does give us dreams I know that much... but without a good personality, a good temperment and interesting qualities it is rather irrelevant.

Does all this not constitute the importance of personal opinion, regardless of differences? So why was my last post of personal opinion deleted? Its hard to have an objective discussion if you pre-select opinions, in which case what's the point of having a discussion if its only what you want to read? Is this why people spend so much time here? To read what they want and hide from reality? Hypocrisy? Let's check the total number of posts shall we? Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil... according to board mongers.

And you shall have my axe! (I prefer an axe to a lance any day :p )

"Physical appearance is a key factor in attraction and in the consideration of partners for dates and marriage." (or so my Psychology textbook says)

Beauty can be detected from a much farther distance than personality. Therefore, I believe beauty is the primary factor in considering a mate. Then comes compatibility. (Thus placing beauty above personality; not drastically though, like 60:40.)

And all this would be solved if we had Beauty :D

I can't deny that everybody has a little vanity in them but seriously... it is not the be all and end all is it?

Socrates wrote - this beauty is stands outside of time. It is not beautiful in part or relationship to another...it exists on it's. It verifies itself :D

Beauty does give us dreams I know that much...

And such dreams are beauty are made of :D

but without a good personality, a good temperment and interesting qualities it is rather irrelevant.

Beauty never is irrelevant. Only the blind will say beauty is irrelvant. Only the deaf will say music is irrellevant. And only the cripple will say dancing is devil's work :D

Hummm now youve got me thinking about a serious answer....
Someone who doesnt frighten me ( Im not good with people in RL) someone who I can trust absaloutly, Someone who is not so caught up by appearanes and what people think that they have to live their lives thinking about other people all the time. Someone who can make firm desions and I suppose a doing person as I am liable to start something an never finish it. Someone who will understand that I have a tendency to fuss over people I care about. Someone with the same values as I have and someone who can keep up with my shall we say 'unusal' lines of thought. But mostly somone I can talk to about anything and everything.

:D

Pish that sounds like a load of mush.... :sniff: Id better add a person who doesnt expect mush from me because I cant be doing with it.

Let's see, 6 arms is a good start, 2 legs is fine though. 2 eyes, 1 mouth, 1 nose, 16 ears. Not too bright, about the IQ of a physics professor. A lengthy tail, a sense of humour that does not understand basic joke structures, but is able to comprehend stranger sorts of logic that undermine the average comedian with a shabby sense of ill placed humour. Oh, Values are important too, so it had better represent the solid morals and monetary structures of the planet of origin. Lastly, the motor skills must be able to handle intricate gesticulated movement of the arms in an indecently operated neural network.

Preferable the above is mechanised, so it does not require extensive nourishment, but can survive on simple electricity and oil.

it/she won't survive very long then, seeing as we're running out of oil. but maybe there is oil on other planets?

quite... but I cant figure out why it would need 16 ears ... unless you need to talk alot...

Ears are the window to the other side of the soul, and since that side burns brighlty with passionate fires, I find that it is better to have this side properly ventilated. It saves on the heater, and it lets all the passion out. This release ensures that otherwise deadly levels of passion would simply overwhelm me in intensity once they explode in a fiery blast of emotions and other good things.

How can ears let anything out... thats illogical ears let things in... I think it you need to send it back to the manufacturere and say that it should have 16 noses instead of ears...

NO! sometimes things can exist the ear! That's why people sometimes fiddle with their fingers inside. But that's not what I'm talking about. It's the special fire that could heat the furnaces of Labali VII that make for an interesting ear altogether. Noses just run like gazelles. Why would I want more noses? It does not make sense. You speak of ill logic. :p

Are you certain?
Im sure these things are non refundable so you must be certain... perhaps 8 eras and 8 noses? maybe a couple more eyes?

Nono, without a heart, there is no reason to assassinate me, All assassinations of passion come from the heart. It must still posses plenty of heart though, just without the assassination subroutines, I ordered one and it is currently being developed at one of Martian INC!'s top secret research outposts here on earth. It's somewhere in Moskow and listed in the local phone book under the Top Secret Extra Terrestial Research Outposts section

There is not enough labour on mars to support the scientists, and it is cheaper on earth to conduct illegal experiments, since the mounted police from delta VII does not pay much attention to this planet, it is considered back water you see, and not many great things have originated from it, nor any things to worry about really, so they just eat donuts on delta VII.

I think that in a man I search for what we could call 'canine qualities', that is unconditional love, protection, loyalty, and so on.

Lassie man's best friend is supposed to be a dog! And women's...erm another women :D So leave man's best friend to men :D and find yourself a woman :D

NO WAY. I have already told you what I thought of having women friends. Dogs are my best friends, and they are more than that. A lot more. :) Dogs do not care about the fact that I am a woman or a man or anything, they just love me the way I am. :D So, dear Lote, find other friends and leave dogs to Sophie. :) If not, I will bite you.

I think the perfect partner for me would be someone sweet, thoughtful, caring, funny, someone doesnt lie and will be faithful, respects my likes/dislikes, puts up with me when I'm moody lol..and love me for me.

I don't really think I have one, deep down. Any girl I'd love would have to be like a sidekick. They don't really exist as interesting people, though. I'm not really a people person, I just enjoy the physical aspects.

The perfect partner would be someone who GETS me, most people don't even understand what I'm talking about, I have to dumb myself down for then.
Somebody who doesn't care if I'm over-dramatic or joke when I'm feeling sad, or go into sugar withdrawal. It doesn't really matter if they're not physically attractive (as long as he/she doesn't have a mullet )

I haven't found this person yet makes me sad! and lets call him soul mate
all men i met are playrabbits!

Night, it is a Cat Stevens song

Im looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will take me for myself,
And if I find my hard headed woman,
I wont need nobody else, no, no, no.

Im looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me do my best,
And if I find my hard headed woman
I know the rest of my life will be blessed -- yes, yes, yes.

I know a lot of fancy dancers,
People who can glide you on a floor,
They move so smooth but have no answers.
When you ask whyd you come here for?
I dont know why?

I know many fine feathered friends
But their friendliness depends on how you do.
They know many sure fired ways
To find out the one who pays
And how you do.

Im looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me feel so good,
And if I find my hard headed woman,
I know my life will be as it should -- yes, yes, yes.

Im looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me do my best,
And if I find my hard headed woman...

(i agree) accept let it be for a Guy.

I like being open to the idea that it could be anyone. If I set expectations of perfection, I might miss out on someone wonderful who skids outside my ideal.

As for me, I'd like someone who can hurt me and make me cry coz I feel like I'm numb to human emotions and I want to feel human again. But about the qualities, I'd definitely appreciate honesty and fidelity.

Dishonesty and infidelity are some great tear and pain-evoking qualities.

I had a boyfriend once who had a list of 100+ criteria that his perfect partner had to fulfil.

Then u're lucky that u dumped him! I'd stay away from such a person..!
You don't find your perfect partner by comparing him with a list of things. Finding the perfect partner is all about the magic of love. You'll know it when you find him..u'll feel it..

I don't think there is any such thing as 'perfect', but I will list both the things I require and the flaws which are endearing;

I require absolute honesty, and openeness. Somebody who can share themselves, who can trust me enough to cry on my shoulder, who can tell me why they're upset and if they are upset at me.

Somebody who forgives me my flaws and who loves me for who I am.

Somebody who isn't afraid to let me know how they feel- if we can't work it out, we're not meant to be, simply.

Somebody I can cuddle with for hours and do nothing.

Somebody who makes me feel at home in their house.
