View Full Version : The most striking feature?

When you first meet someone, mainly a potential partner, which feature do you always observe first and why?
Please note: The feature can be a personality, looks factor etc etc.
For me, it has always been the eyes. The colour, the intensity of a look and more importantly, whether there is any depth/mystery and even benevolence in those eyes. I also pay attention to hands as well... not sure why to be honest. I also gather alot of information from a person about their laugh - how often they laugh, the volume of the laugh and the sound.

first would definitely be the eyes. after that I search for what the person makes me feel or do. Like laugh, or feel secure, or to be able to be myself in all aspects.
Can't say I search one particular colour of the eye, but blue ones have always makes me shiver! :)

same here :) that mainly goes for crushes, though... I mean I tend to have crushes on people with deep, intense, mysterious eyes... eyes can be misleading, though, the biggest *rsewhole guys can have the most intense look... My hubby's eyes are not that special, but they look sincere and that's a bonus in someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, isn't it?

Eyes are okay, but it's not the first thing I notice.
It's all about the chins. I like nice, masculine cleft chins.
But chins and glasses are a tie. I won't look a guy unless he has glasses. Usually.

For me it is blue eyes and a great sense of humor; also someone who looks one right in the eyes when they speak - direct. They seem to be more honest. A nice handshake is great on first meeting...respectful.....and of course intelligence and a sense of class is vitally important.

Bravo pussnboots! Its just bluddy well typical isnt it... pfft. Of course relationships are partly founded on physical attraction and appreciation of a male/female body but for heavens sake, they're just breasts man!
This is a topic that absolutely baffles me actually...
Seriously, what is more important, looks OR personality? (not suggesting you can't have both mind.)
But can you imagine a relationship with a woman who was stunning but totally... dim or even malevolent?
Either way, I won't fuss too much over it.
Instead Im going to kick off an entirely different argument :D

The most important feature to me about a woman is the smile and cheekbones. A womans smile must be warm and full and the cheekbones should not be well defined.
Regarding the breasts thing, it is not so much size as proportionality to the rest of the body. (yeah, yeah oink oink):p

I have a bad habit of my eyes always looking quickly at different parts. First the teeth (he has to have good teeth). Next his shoulders. Then his hair. Finally, if all is approved by me, I quickly glance at his left hand. I have to see if there is a ring on the finger! Generally there is! :bawling:

Pfft... and those "most men" are the ones who are less likely to get the girls, what a poor show for them :) But yes, joking aside, I believe you are correct. Every individual has something special and unique about them that attracts another... well, I'd like to think so.

Blue eyes. I don't limit my pool of men to just those who have blue eyes - how shallow would that be?! - but blue eyes are a bonus, definitely. I don't know why but they just electrify and intrigue me (probably because mine are brown).
And yes, definitely hands too. Hands and arms. I like tan, slightly vein-y arms... muscular doesn't hurt either lol...
But usually the first thing that gets me is their smile and personality - kindness - that's what I go for. Good looks are just a plus. =]
Physically, eyes and HANDS. Oh my god, hands...
What do you look for in a hand? (What an awkward question!) I love my hands, everything about them, but I don't think any women would find them particularly attractive.

Well, I can assure you guys that we, women, do look for physical aspects in a man, but we don't put it first. We seek for basics, like character or something in his eyes or anything like that. Those other physical aspects just come as a big plus when the man has everything else.
At least most women are like that :p

I'm sort of weird this way, (well, weird again-no one has mentioned chins or glasses, I don't think) in the fact that I prefer crooked. It gives a nice shape to the lips.

The most striking feature? hmmm...I don't know. I know it when I see it though. It's been a while, but I think a good face is always very important. There is no certain color of hair, or certain type of face even. There's just a combination of facial features that combine in a certain way, that strikes me.
It's definitely all in the face though. I never look at a guy and think, "those are the most perfect calves. I must pursue that" (or any other body part for that matter). It's all in the face.
Actually, I am beyond striking features. That's the thing about being tired of everything.

Maybe it is a geographical thing! I live in Wisconsin and I am much more drawn to brown eyes. Then again, I tend to like the "dark" type. I have nothing against a blonde (the way that Robert Redford looks in "Barefoot in the Park" puts him pretty high on my list) but, I am more attracted to someone who has darker hair and darker eyes over the blonde hair/blue eyes guy.

interesting conversation in here, everyone!
features. hmm. i'm not really particular about features but for me the guy's i've liked seem to stand out. can't really pinpoint why, though, but i would have to say they're mainly personality based. based on observation i'm more of into the confident (not shy) guys who can make conversation with me anytime (though it would be okay if he got a little nervous!).
another thing i look for in guys is.. well, kinda weird maybe, but a guy has to smell good, lol. not the perfume kind of good, although i'm okay with perfume. but the type who smells clean (and almost like a baby, i guess!) .. but come on. if you intend to spend the rest of your life's nights in bed next to him he better be pleasant-smelling, lol..
the following are plus factors, the stuff i check for when i already notice the guy:
1. nice hands
2. nice feet
and.. something i just notice, not just on guys but on girls too:
3. the glutius maximus. not that it really matters, but it's just something i happen to notice, lol.

The only thing that matters enough for me to mention is cheekbones. I can't even describe a particular way I like them to look; but if the cheekbones are in order, then all is well with the world. I do like glasses also - especially if it's an indication that she's ruined her eyes with reading, like me. I like darker hair and eyes, but I really don't care much about that.
But the cheekbones...!

She once had an interview claiming she didn't want to be seen as a "sex symbol" but more as a "serious actress". Strictly speaking from physical appearance preferences, I always stare too much at a woman with straight dark hair, light eyes and nice skin. My dream girl was a librarian (another bonus) a few years ago who had everything minus the straight hair, it was dark and wavy. But oh no, she was to good for me and wouldn't go on a date, nice , thanks. But I'm not bitter, now where did I put that mail-bomb:lol:

OO... we're upping our game in the field of vocabulary are we now Lote?
What by the use of Transient? :D
I know other words too like "Serendipitous" :D
Haha! I had no idea you held yourself in such high regard...
:D
Sadly no! :-(
because Sylvester stallone is actually a bit of a short arse.
I see. Never looked at his arse to be honest. Perhaps I am a guy and guys don't do that ;-)

Well, if the guy is from an English-speaking country, then he just has to talk to me and I will melt. :D :D :p
Apart from that, I have no preference. I can have feelings for very different kinds of men. They can all have something special.
Sense of humor is always nice. Oh, and I have a thing for nose shapes too. Eminem, for instance, has a wonderful nose. :D Robert Downey Jr too. :D

Yes, Sweetie is back! :) And yes I had a very happy holiday. I spent Christmas with my family AND with my dog!! Ah, it was wonderful, I love him so much!! Now that I am back to my apartment, I miss him already. :( So, Lote, you have to make me laugh so that I won't be too sad because I'm not with my dog. Ok?
Pffffft, about what you say after. The English accent is very cute, but I prefer the United States. :p I am still the Baroness of Lakedistrict, though. :p
Oh, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas too, Dear Lote. I am wondering...since you are a Tree, were you decorated with strings of lights, and such? :D I'm sure you were the greatest Lote-Christmas-Tree. :D

Most Striking features (in order) : Eyes, laughter, intelligence
All of the above are what catches me. I love looking at people's eyes it tells me so much about them. As for laughter, if a guy doesn't laugh or make others laugh he isn't the on e for me and intelligence always goes before looks.

I've been reading through this thread and kiz and virgil are the only two who have admitted the truth! Men look at legs and breast and women look at bums and other stuff.
When I first met Poppy, it was his voice and intelligence that I noticed first. I wasn't attracted, but I did notice. His kissing expertise was what attracted me.

tsk, tsk, tsk, why do you assume everyone's as gutter-minded as you two? :D
ok, I'll admit it, I look at bums, too, but only in this order:
1. eyes
2. hands
3. belly
4. ears
5. mouth
6. bum
edit: how could I forget chest hair? I like a hairy chest, but only if it's soft and fluffy, not a huge black fur that grows all the way up to a guy's chin. .... droooooooooooooooooooooool

my hubby has very long, skinny arms :) the funniest thing about them is that they aren't straight. i.e. when he stretches them out in front the elbows almost touch

ears before mouth? And why even bother with all the rest if the bum is not worth looking at?
I'm not much on chest hair...at my age, I would probably notice if the ear hair was trimmed or if there was any head hair before I'd even think about chest hair.
