Hello, everyone. I recently read The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, an all too misunderstood, ambiguous, and yet very enjoyable work. The ending, however, confused me where, after the first admitted and mutual sighting of Peter Quint and Miss Jessel (the two ghosts), Miles dies; I wonder if his dying has anything to do with being kicked out of school early in the short novel, but the only mentioned reason for his being exempted from school seemed that he "said things." I somehow feel what he said had something to do either with the two ghosts or his own death, for which, apparently, Peter Quint, one could say, hoped for, since the two always shared time and grewed very attached to one another. Anyway, I would greatly appreciate anyone's feedback on the work, since, as you can see, I'm still a little in the dark. Thanks.
