View Full Version : Curse The Car

Curse the car
with its loose front end
and never-ending supply of rust
curse the car
someone dinted the side today
while I compared apples and oranges
with all the other bargain hunters
curse the car
it ran over the garbage can
on purpose
just to prove the point that
my license
came from a crackerjack box
curse the car
it shall join the legions
of cars destined
to adorn the crushed kingdom
of cursed cars

I wrote that in the Summer, and posted it in my blog, as I was a bit shy to post out here. **sigh**

Hope you liked it. Oh, it was about a very bad car I have the 'privilege' of owning... ;)

Love it! If I wrote it about my car, the title would have a different verb and a few blue modifiers.... :o)

I love it kiz. I have a car much like it. One summer I lost 17 hubcaps and had 36 flat tires. I have truck tires now and my husband still has three extra hubcaps just in case.

I like it KIzzo! My truck has this habit lately of not knowing where I am going...

This is a great litany, kiz. Sounds good spoken. It has a thereputic ring to it actually.

At last! Something we can all write about other than lost lovers; lovers with cross-eyed hearts; lovers who tilt at the slightest nudge of a hip!

My first ever was something like a 1955 Alvis I bought when it was maybe 4 years old, pre-WWII styling: a long elegant "bonnet," plexi-glass hands that flipped up as turn signals, running boards, a blind one could pull down over the rear window, wooden dash and leather seats... It came equipped with friends who would push it when it wouldn't start.

In 1969 in LA, I bought a 1949 Buick Dynaflow for $75 with the best old tube radio. It made today's base boom whatevers sound like a capgun. The drivers side windshield wiper would go down but not up, for which I tied a string to it to pull it up. I drove it for two years without a hitch or stall ever. The oil was so thick in the pan, I didn't dare ever change it. I loved it more than any car I have ever owned. I would tilt for that car at the slightest nudge from one of her base notes. Sadly, I lost her to another younger guy for $50, string included.

Thank you, craze, michael, M-H, Pen, firefangled and PrinceM for your support (I really fear posting poems). :)

It has a thereputic ring to it actuallyfire -- I smiled at that, because indeed, the last four lines were truly thereputic for me (imagine a kick for each line kind-of-thing...)

PrinceM: I laughed out loud at that!

Well, stop being shy. This is great. I'm sure I speak for others when I ask for more.
