for Sophie: :D

http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/strollerderby/peas%20in%20a%20pod.jpg

The English Expression "Two peas in a pod" - ie "They are like two peas in a pod" is to denote likeness or intimacy.

So when I said Friendship between two men are like "Two Stones in a Pod" was meant to mean opposite of "two peas in a pond".

Comprehendez mon Sophie :D

If not ask you Linguistic teacher ;-)

Regards,
Lote.:D

This is funny how you call me lassie. I know it is a very British term but that reminds me so much of this old TV series in which Lassie was a dog. :D Ah, I love dogs, so I take that as a compliment. :D

You are a nice little Tree. :) This morning in class we talked about bonsai trees. Do you like bonsai trees? They are cute little trees, just like you. :p
I see you are a poet too. I had already seen that in the very beginning of this thread: it was so poetic how the picture of the peas beautifully matched the colors of your avatar!:D

In linguist class you are talking about Bonsai Trees? What kind of class is it? Linguistics for Gardeners? :D

Please, do not do that, there are not enough compassionate people in this world. The future of the human condition is between your hands. You are our hero, Lote. :D

Yes. I am bad bad bad! I am so bad that I can trash a Sainsbury's Shopping Trolley by leaving it out in the rain :D

That is not nice at all. You should be ashamed, Lote. You are sadistic. :D

Can't seem to get away from this nice-ness image can I? :-(

As long as I will be around, I guess you will be compelled to be nice, my poor Lote.

In linguist class you are talking about Bonsai Trees? What kind of class is it? Linguistics for Gardeners? :D
Who said I was in a linguistics class, mister Tree? You must have thought:
-Sophie talked about her linguistics classes earlier
-Sophie just talked about a class
-The class Sophie just talked about must have been a linguistics class.

But, YOU ARE WRONG. God, Lote is wrong! :D

Now about the class: that was my poetry class, and we were studying a poem about bonsais. :) As usual I was too shy to say any word, but I still raised my hand to read one of the poems, plus I was the only one in the class who had written the dissertation my teacher had asked us to write. :D Does that make me a nerd? :D

If you insist.

I do. :)

But don't tell anyone. It's a deep secret ;-)

Please everyone, listen:
LOTE IS A POET.:D

I try my best. And besides we Europeans did not give Monsato the license to create blue-coloured peas :D

That is Lote's scientific method. :D But how do you decide what is a possibility and what is not?

No that is everything but ridiculous. Poetry can come from everything. I thought that as a Tree yourself, you could understand that Trees could be poetic. YOU FAILED. :D

No. A teachers pet :D

Nice. :D

Sophie you seems to be quite ignorant about the world. Ignorance should be made a sin :D

Well, this ignorance can be explained: I spent years with very little social contact, only seeing the world through the eyes of my dogs, and my dogs weren't very interested in all of these human things. I am trying to catch up now. :D But, I still think that my dogs taught me the essential: loyalty, kindness and unconditional love. :)

Perhaps but it will probably give you cancer :D

Ah, then my ex-boyfriend must have eaten blue peas. That explains everything about his health condition. :( Now that I think of it, my father must have eaten these peas as well. :( You must destroy these peas, Lote, they are definitely not good.

Hope is so boring and un-original Sophie. Let's be imaginitve and be completely hopeless :D
No, hope is not boring, hope is wonderful. I will keep hope, whether you like it or not. :D I have been hopeless before, I know how it feels, so now it's time to be hopeful for a change. :D Please let's be hopeful, Lote! :D

Lote, Lote, Lote...:) You must try to detach yourself from your point of view and admit that you might not know the truth about where poetry comes from. I do not know the truth either, I just make suppositions. I think it is possible that poetry comes from the heart, BUT also from everything else in this world.
Now I am astonished when you say that 'Trees don't feel'. :eek2: How can you know that for sure? Human beings are not the center of the world, you know? :D Maybe bonsais feel, whether you like it or not. :D
I always try to remember that all that I can say is just hypothesis, that's all, I don't know anything for sure, and I have no problem with that. :) I have no opinion, actually, I try to welcome every possible opinion. :) I can defend an opinion which I do not agree with, too. :D

Erm...I am a scientist and Trees don't have nervous system :D

Yes, of course, but the science you are talking about bases everything on the human conception of things. What if trees didn't need 'nervous systems' to feel? What if the definition of feeling for trees had nothing to do with the definition of feeling for human beings?
That reminds me of those guys who say 'there cannot be life on this or that planet, because there is no oxygen in it, or because it is too close or too far from the sun'. But I mean: Hellooooo!!! What if some different beings did NOT NEED oxygen to live? What if our oxygen actually killed them? Eh?
This was what I meant when I said that human beings were not the center of the world and that we should not define everything by relating it to the way WE feel or think.
It's just like about God. Some people say that God does not exist because we have no proof of his existence. But, what if science was just not the right tool to prove his existence? What if it was just too complicated for us to understand? What if some things just could NOT be explained?

Sarcasm? I know not such thing ;-)

I just going to lie down now and take a deep breath...;-)

Ahahah  I must admit that I have a strange way of thinking, I am always questionning everything. :D

If you want your head to spin even more, read the following thing that I have written some time ago. :D It's about how human beings could think. There are some things in what I have written that I do not agree with, though.

Here is my ideal concept of how human beings could think.
They would accept being wrong and would be happy to be enlightened. The important would be to go towards a truth or to tolerate any kind of opinion in case no truth could be proven on a subject. (and can truth really ever be ‘proven’ anyway?)
Men would separate their minds from their feelings. They could then talk about their anger, for instance, without being angry. They would always make objectivity go first, before personal feelings and interests. The person who would be right in a debate would not find any pleasure from it, because the emphasis would be laid on the learning rather than on the person finding something new. Thus, impulses would be put backwards and wisdom and self-control would be the goal.
Everyone would tolerate even the strangest opinions or ideas, any kind of basis of knowledge would be removed because people would accept that we are not sure of anything, and no one would enclose themselves in a belief. The only belief would be that ‘no one knows anything for sure’. However, we would keep in mind that all the beliefs that have been removed might have been true and that the ideal concept might be totally wrong.
In the special case of religious belief, people would either not enclose themselves into any belief, or they would choose to totally believe or disbelieve. Any opinion would be tolerated and put on the same level. People who would firmly believe in God would be able to have ‘doublethink’. They would be able to be absolutely certain that God exists and in the meantime they would know that they cannot be sure of it. They would be aware of the fact that their belief might be wrong, or that it might be true. No one would try to impose their views on others and claim that they ‘know’ something. Actually, any kind of view should be kept in mind as being a potential truth.
This ideal concept itself would not be imposed, but people who would want to impose ideas or who would claim that they ‘know’ something would be tolerated in the same way as those who respect the other’s beliefs. Those who would impose their views would not be judged as being less wise than the others. In the meantime, the ideal concept would be seen as being wiser since it would tend to a better sharing and tolerance. But, some balance should be made between both the ideal-concept believers and those who do not believe in it. Everyone’s opinion would be tolerated and nothing would be imposed. We would have to keep in mind that maybe the ideal could be totally wrong and that the ‘intolerant’ ones could be totally right. They might be even wiser than the tolerant ones if what they try to impose is the truth.
In addition, we should keep in mind that the real ideal concept could be one which has not been thought of yet.
In conclusion, the human brain should be able to ‘doublethink’ on everything without any problem. The dual aspects of the ‘right/wrong’ should be enlarged and room should be made for thirds aspects to any problem. The human brain should keep a blank space ready to welcome any new possibility.

What a beautiful tribute to the canines in our life. You rock! :)

It is so strange to think that The Great Lote started his life on this planet as a very little seed that one could have put in their pocket. :p :D But someone (who the hell was it?!) put the Lote-Seed in a fertile soil and then he grew, he grew, he grew! When will Lote stop growing? :D

Some are Born Great
Some achieve Greatness
Some have Greatness Thrust Upon Them!

Here is my take on the good old bard :-)

Some are born not to be loved.
Some achieve a state of love-less-ness
And some have love-less-ness Thrust upon them

I am humbled. :thumbs_up

Oh Kiz just ignore our silly banter :-)

I am just trying to amuse Sophie ;-)

But I think I am failing, losing the knack to amuse others :-(

I guess I have given into my vanity! I am lost so hoplessly lossssssssssst

I am happy you liked that, Kiz. ;) ;) When I talk about my dogs, or about dogs in general, it's always with love. It is such a joy just to pet them, you know. A great friend of mine is a dog that I met while I was wandering once, and he is soooooo sweet, so cute!! Whenever I meet him, I know my heart will be rejoiced, because a mere contact with him just makes me happy. This dog gives me great love, and I try to give him a lot too. Sometimes I feel like a vampire because it is as though I were sucking joy out of them! But, well, I also give them what I can give in exchange. I am going to see my dog Calif tomorrow!!! That is great!! :D

Rare are the people who actually verbalize their true feelings about canines, sometimes I feel like I am the only one who feels/acts the way I do -- now I know that there are others! :thumbs_up

Ha ha, I just thought that perhaps you and I are the proverbial two peas in a pod, now, come to think of it!

Anyhow, you mentioned that you will be seeing Calif soon, enjoy your visit! (hope that I am not mis-quoting you). :)

Sole of the shoes - well, at least it's a start :D

If by any chance I get stuck anywhere else (no smut intended ;-)) - then accept my apologies :D
