The Rape Of A Marvel Of Science.
by mazHur

Rontgen, I feel pity for the way,
these men are defaming your marvel of science;
you discovered X-rays for the benefit of men,
to examine the interior of the diseased body,
so that they may be treated medicinally with precision;
the X in your rays was an indicator of bones
but men have misused and abused the alphabet
and all that the X is concerned with is now flesh;
young flesh, fresh flesh, raw flesh, tender and tough flesh;
all consumable flesh without bones;
for the pleasure of viewing with sex-hungry eyes;
X in multiple form indicates flaring flesh and blood;
a scheme you must never have imagined for your discovery;
the X, XX and XXX are nothing like X- rays,
your scientific discovery has become a symbol of esoteric,
It's no more than a lascivious drug for the perverse,
for the impotents and have-nots,
a crutch for the feeble and sick,
but the irony of it is that there is no bone involved,
nothing to do with the realm of ossification
but just a lustful and lecherous expression
a smut full of sickly flesh and blood !

It feels like something Naz would write and sing..I mean, rap to. :) It's got that fluidity and unrelenting beat and rhyme start to finish. I like how you play with the X throughout. I was wondering if you purposely planted words like 'sex,' 'examine,' etc. in the piece for that 'X' accentuation. Cool.

I like it... What is the meaning of lascivious?

This was rhythmical and witty; but for me it's difficult to
stretch the meaning of an X-ray into something salacious.
There are far more dangerous aspects to the use of radioactive materials!
But I am glad you posted this. Your talent continues to
develop, and we get to witness it!

Poor Rontgen must never have thought that the X of his rays would go to revealing not only the bony things but would be compounded to XX and XXX or X to the power square,,,,,,,,to entertain people rather than investigate diseases !

Aunt, thanks a lot for your enouragement.

I'm not sure I follow the point of your argument but much enjoyed the passion of it, especially in that final line and your invention of "smut full".

thanks, Prince.
the letter X is generally understood to stand for an unknown quantity or thing and Rontgen , the discoverer of the X-rays or more properly, Rontgen Rays, was not able to name his finding, hence the word X-rays.
The poem is a satire on the use of the letter X in disciplines that may never have been imagined by Rontgen or that which are contrary to the concept of the letter X. ....that is. it expresses something unknown. But one can find its ruthless use in X, XX and XXX etc in porno ,,,where nothing is hidden and moreover, those films do not exress anything deeply 'hidden' like the X-rays.
If Rontgn were alive he surely would have taken offense to the 'profane' use of X for purposes other than his discovery or changed its name. The theme is that the sanctity of the letter X is being employed for exposing something which is generally not desirable in a disease-free civilization. As you might know homosexuality(and lesbianism) and child abuse (again marked as XXXXX !) are considered a deviated norm of relations and accursed sinful disease of modern (and primitive) civilizations and detested by the vast majority of people the world.over....

Many thanks for the enlightenment. All the same, perhaps it's just as well that these were not named R-rays, or films might be rated:

X Ribald
XX Ribald & Racy
XXX Ribald, Racy & Raunchy
XXXX Rancid!

thanks, Prince, for your 'enlightenment' on the different X types !
'R' for rated ,,,,not a bad idea !
