I was given a stapled copy of these few pages, I'd love to find the book or essay in its entirety. I cannot remember it by heart and I don't have the pages with me, I read it only once yesterday so this is not an exact quote, but close.

"And a scholar asked him to speak of talking. He said, you talk when you are no longer at peace with your thoughts. Your thoughts are like a bird, words being a cage, indeed the bird may spread its wings but it cannot fly, for half of your thoughts are murdered with your words."

There was much more to this, I have like 6 pages. Short pages.
I just want to know who wrote it or what the name of it is.

PLEASE & THANKYOU

Yeah: "And then a scholar said, "Speak of Talking."

And he answered, saying:

You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts;

And when you can no longer dwell in the solitude of your heart you live in your lips, and sound is a diversion and a pastime.

And in much of your talking, thinking is half murdered."
Not word for word but close...
