And if other people saw spirals too. Would you then be still sane?

Oh it's for u guys to decide if i'm sane today. I've just given a horrible (in every sense of the word) exam on organic chemistry...i dont know if i'll pass ... and...uhm..leave it.
So i'll have to post some other day i guess.
Okay ignore these grumblings.

I believe our sanity is a consensual agreement of others.

But it is their consenusl agreement that your sanity is determined :D

Consensus doesn't make reality, tho.
I'm not sane, I'm more than sane. :)
By the way, great thread, Lote :thumbs_up
I especially love the wording: you are not MAD or not... (not NOT mad)
I am not not mad. I am not! I am not!
The only options are not mad or, not, not mad! :) We can't be mad in Lote's world.
I probably took the point to far that it looks like I'm making fun, which I'm not. I'm actually laughing hysterically. So maybe I'm not not not mad. Hm!!!!

Oh,my,I wouldn't know.It is always up to others to decide whether one is sane or not.And I was thinking one day:what is normality?I mean,it has been reached an agreement that if one acts a certain way,one is called normal. But in the end,no one does that, becuse everybody has his or her own individuality and strangnes so in the end, normal is anormal, don't you think?

I think it was The Tick that said......."I'm going sane in a mad world"

From a few simple observations:
1) The world is a crazy place
2) The majority of the world is obssessed with a certain jolie person
3) I am not
Therefore, I can happilly conclude I am not crazy - however, Lote, you on the other hand........

But this is how it works. It is the consensol agreement of others that determines your sanity.
Do you not find that disturbing.

And do you think that is quite disturbing that it is upto others to determine your sanity?
From a few simple observations:

LOL Kilty :-)
But it is kind of disturbing that it's consenseul agreement that determines your sanity.
In some places if you don't believe in God - you are deemed mad. Again the consensul agreement of the believers.
But we can never be sure of our sanity can we?

Perhaps there is a deeper question here...well, two deeper questions :
1. Can Lote spell consensual the same way twice? and
2. Is there such a thing as 'sanity' and 'insanity'?
Of course I could ask the obvious question and say:
Lote - define 'Sanity' (is my dictionary in the post yet?)
But seriously, I don't think there is truly such a thing as sanity or insanity, perhaps it is more a question of assessing whether behaviour/attitudes/beliefs fit or don't fit the social norms of the society in question. If you don't fit the social norms then you cannot exist within that social stucture, so the society must consider the options, depending on the answer to the overriding question of whether the social deviance is a danger to the society, if not then it can, perhaps, be tolerated, if not then the options are:
-'fix' the social deviance -i.e through drugs, electro-shock therapy, counselling, psychotherapy?
if it is not fixable then the options are limited to :
- expulsion, or
- elimination, or
- containment
in our current society we tend to err towards containment, as this allows the individual to retain some benefits of the society i.e. access to food, shelter, medical assistance, protection without causing a detriment to the society. Of course it denies them their freedom, but heigh ho, there's always a downside right?

I think sanity is relative...but I can literally feel my mind unravel like a rope sometimes because I am so incredibly twisted and insane. It's ridiculous. I'm ridiculous. *writhes in straight jacket*

Lote, consensus doesn't determine whether you are sane or not, and I'll fight this point to the death with you! If we gathered five people around a tree and conceded it was on fire, it would still be frozen with ice! Saying something doesn't always make it so, though sometimes, it does. But in this case, it doesn't at all- unless the person thinks it does, which is a very sad thing when it happens.
Other people can be in consensus about my insanity- which I don't think they are, or they'd be giving more and more funny looks- an that's find, it's their opinion, but it isn't God's will of reality!

Ah Nikolai - consensus of others can put you into a straight-jacket quite easily. In America (and elswehere too) for instance if you did not believe in God you would be considered quite mad. And if you are of certain religion not believing in God would merit in death sentence.
It is the consensus of others to determine your sanity I find disturbing. This power that others have over you.
What we need a objective standard of determining sanity...

Okay, that I truly acknowledge and agree with. I just wanted to make sure weren't talking about whether a person is sane or not- just what other people think. But I do completely understand that it's the consensus which would put us in a mental home. And the people who would do that- they are the insane ones!
I May Have actually had a dream where this happened to me! :bawling:
There are Things which I find More Disturbing but they are politics and I can't speak of them here. In fact, this thread might be considered Veiled Politics. I don't know why I am capitalizing Words, but I can't stop! Or maybe I just did.
Anyway I have to go, it's a 2.5 mile walk to the temple, where I will go Meditate with the Buddhists. Lock me up! Fortunately, I don't think it's likely I will be.

I think now that some good advice is to do it until you feel how it works, then keep practicing but when you see how it works is when you see why to do it.

In the U. S., the word "mad" is a syn. for anger which reminds me of a joke that IS actually
older than I am!
Pat: "I had to have my dog put to sleep."
Mike: "Oh dear. Why-- was he Mad?"
Pat: "Well, he wasn't all that happy about it!"

Actually the word "mad" is used in a lot of countries as a word for angry. we use it here in Ireland.
"was he mad?"
"I'm so mad with you!"
"dont make me mad!"
"He was very mad over it"
"You are not mad with me are you?"
As a few more examples.
