I got shoes, you got shoes,
All God's children got shoes!
When I get to Heav'n gonna put on my shoes,
Gonna walk all over God's Heav'n, Heav'n, Heav'n

Everybody talkin' ‘bout Heav'n ain't going there,
Heav'n, Heav'n, Heav'n.
Gonna shout all over God's Heav'n.

I got a mind, you got a mind,
All God's children got minds.
When I get to Heav'n gonna open up my mind,
Gonna think all over God's Heav'n, Heav'n, Heav'n

Everybody talkin' æbout Heav'n ain't going there,
Heav'n, Heav'n, Heav'n.
Gonna shout all over God's Heav'n.

I got love, you got love,
All God's children got love.
When I get to Heav'n gonna pour out my love,
Gonna love all over God's Heav'n, Heav'n, Heav'n

Everybody talkin' ‘bout Heav'n ain't going there,
Heav'n, Heav'n, Heav'n.
Gonna love all over God's Heav'n.
Heav'n, Heav'n, Heav'n.
Gonna love all over God's Heav'n.

You must understand my friend that music was my life. I couldn't tell you any thing they preached in the old tent meetings, but as a 7,8 year old boy I was up on stage leading the worship songs. We cared about one thing, did you say you loved Jesus? Skin color didn't matter. I got a lot of my style from black singers.

Train leavin' here in the morning
Headed for that heavenly shore...
Gonna be at the station with my ticket in my hand
I ain't comin' back no more...

You better make certain you got yo' ticket ready, brother
Ain't gonna wait while you run back home.
Time you dig through all yo' trash and come running back
That train to Glory gonna be long gone...

Don't think that you can fool that Conductor Man
By fakin' a ticket like the ones they sell
He will find you out in a flash, that ticket ain't gonna pass,
It'll send you on the fast track down to hell...

Oh can't you hear that train comin' into to the station?
Everybody with yo' tickets get in line.
All aboard the trumpet sounds, we are glory bound,
Heaven awaits us at the end of the line...

I used to make em up as I went. As a teen, I used to think it funny that I could get people to shout while singing and playing drunk or high. I came down the hard way and at the other end of nowhere, I became I Preacher. It's a mercy God didn't strike me dead.

12. See, what I figure, is we were ALL originally black but some of us allowed it to rub off.

Myself I always figured that the only religious building I'd be caught alive in was one where the service consisted entirely of the singing of black and anyone who wanted to lay down a dogma would have to do it stark naked in front of the rest of us.

I love these blues-inspired ditties. How about one based on/ parodying "All God's Children Got Rhythm"?
