Do you spit or swallow your chewing gum?

Personally i swallow mine, Ive always been told it would rap around my heart.

Don't usually taste them, but when I do, who bothers to spit them out? It's more convenient to swallow them inside. :p As for them being harmful, well aren't we taking enough risks already? But people I care for should better be more careful about that! I would never recommend swallowing to them. :p

I didn't realize anyone swallowed their gum. :confused: Why in heaven's name? I spit out and sometimes when no one is around me I spit it upward and swat it with my palm as it comes down and see how far I can send it. :D

you shouldn't swallow chewing gum, coz a chewing gum tree will grow in your stomach and when it's big enough it will stick out of your mouth and you can't eat or breathe anymore.... tsk, tsk, tsk

Don't laugh, it almost happened a few times. :lol: I started doing that when I was little and still do it. The silly things that boys do. Hey I may be old, but I'm still a kid at heart. ;)

But i guess my expertise lies in aiming them at the backside(one of the places we dont talk about...) of teachers that i dont like.

when i was in school we used to stick notes on our teachers backs, like "I'm a hobo" etc
or this one time, my friends and me drank a bottle of 80% rum in the toilet and then breathed at the teacher and she never knew where it was coming from.

I'm with you there Lily Adams. I can't remember who it was, but it was always drummed into me that 'cow's chew, do you want to look like a cow?'. Never took it up. In my local city centre they put up special gum boards which are at head level and which people can stick their gum to as they pass rather than littering the street. I think that's quite a nifty idea. If you get caught spitting gum onto the street you'd get an instant £60 fine.

I always throw it in the bin. Too much money gets spent every year scraping gum of the streets of dublin. You can be fined €120 here if you are caught spitting gum onto the ground. DAA banned the sale of gum in Dublin airport because it bacame such a nusaunce. And i agree with them, and so would you if you were walking around your shop tidying books and discovering that a customer disposed of their gum in one of the bestselling fiction titles!:flare:

I guess I just have no shame. At least not today. :D

As for chewing gum, the urban legend that always circulated when I was a kid was that it would form a big glob in your stomach that would stay there forever, or something. Part of me still thinks of that when I swallow gum if there happens to be nowhere to throw it out.

I didn't either. Everyone around here spits.

There are several routes I take when disposing of gum. If a garbage can is not readily available, I usually keep chewing until I find one. If I'm at home, I spit it into the garbage can. If I'm at a restaurant chewing gum, I spit it into a napkin and then dispose of it into the trash. Such precautions are necessary under my mom's watchful eye. :)

I never swallow, and very rarely do I stick it to the side of my plate when eating so that when I'm done eating, I can resume chewing my gum (that is, if it still has any flavor to it). :blush:

I hate to swallow my gum, but on occassion...like when running up to the stage to start singing while already late, I have swallowed my gum. Tonight I managed to keep my gum the whole three hours I was taking a final exam specifically because I refused to swallow it. Needless to say I found a trash can to dispose of it as soon as I finished the final.

This is an interesting topic, I never would have thought of asking people whether or not they swallow their gum.

Everyone has a nasty habit. Mine just happens to be chewing gum. Some people smoke to calm their nerves. I have always done this instead. I chew the same piece so long sometimes that my jaw actually starts to get tired and ache (of course, having TMJ doesn't help that any :( ).

Anyway, I spit it out. I have accidentally swallowed gum a couple of times. I would never intentionally do it. I don't get the point to that. When I do get rid of it, I always just throw it in the trash. Never on the street.

Whaat? I never knew you could swallow chewing gum before. I was always told to spit out mine when I was younger; it wasn't good for my stomach. Of course there were times when I accidentally swallowed my gum, and sometimes I do it on purpose, that is, when I'm not in the mood to look for a trash can or when I really can't find any. But I never realized some people actually swallowed their gum at every instance. I prefer to spit mine.

Me too. I hate the feeling you get when you accidentally swallow your chewing gum. I mean, chewing gum is basically some sugared latex or plastic o_O I don't want to eat plastic :sick:

And I hate it when people don't put their gun in the trash. Why is it so hard to just throw it away? It's disgusting when you find someone elses old chewing gum stuck under the table at school or something like that.

I spit mine out too. I swallowed it by accident maybe once or twice when I was younger and my grandma made me eat dumplings (maybe she thought they were fibrous- who knows?!) to help me "get them out" - don't know for sure if it worked, though. I've always heard that chewing gum takes the body 7 years to break down. So I always spit mine out in the trash can.
