Hi,

I've recently finished Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse-Five, and really enjoyed both.

I've done some research for writers sharing similarities with Vonnegut, but so far I haven't been very lucky, partly because I'm not so knowledgeable in the field of Sci-fi.

Would anyone be willing to recommend a few artists who are, like Vonnegut, known for works blending black humor, satire, and science fiction? Any suggestion for other Vonnegut books will be much appreciated too.

Thank you in advance!

Nobody is precisely like Vonnegut. But if you dig those elements, you'll find them, or something like them, to varying degrees in Thomas Pynchon, Donald Barthelme, and John Barth.

There are several common themes in Vonnegut's writing, and I don't think that anyone used all of them. If you are looking for fatalism, cynicism, and mistrust for authority, then Mark Twain and G. C. Edmondson would be your best bets.

Try reading Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man. Its a collection of short stories in the fantasy/sci-fi genre. Really quite refreshing.

My apologies for hijacking your thread but does anyone have any suggestions for other Vonnegut that I can read? I really liked Player Piano but was less-than-thrilled with Slaughter-house Five.
