Vile tears
that show my pain
when I would
rather hide
inside.
I ache
for you, the
one who is
nowhere to
be found.
Little do
you know
how different
this all
could be.
Should you
awaken,
will you
still find me
here?

I like this a lot Cdn. How I 'hate' those things that give us away.

Agree with Ampoule in how your anger seems to be not so much at the one who disappointed you so much as your own pain. Is it a distinctly female reaction to hate oneself for being 'weak'?

Thanks for all your comments, folks. I'm not particularly happy with this piece. Maybe because it shows a little too much 'weakness'.

Show weakness; hide strength!

Jer, I don't know whether it's "distinctly female", but I do believe that, in some circumstances, we let ourselves be disappointed. The other person can't hurt us unless we give them the permission to do so. That's where that dratted regrettable weakness comes into play. Ugh....

Pen, thanks so much for this. It's a good lesson to remember, especially for one as goal-driven and forward-thinking as me. {{{hugs}}}
