Bęte Noir
It leaves no reflection in my looking glass,
But I have exhausted science trying to prove it a myth.
Nay, something there is that walks the shadowed path,
From the old garage to the back door, and somehow within.
“Just another story, find out the truth, be kind to the folks. ”
I’d proved some hauntings were frauds, and we’d had a good laugh.
But these folk were genuinely frightened, for my sake, no joking!
And my state of the art equipment seemed to be going totally mad!
“Oh, young sir. Don’t go in that room tonight! He’s walked the path again.
“We should never have let you come at all, only you were making fun.
”You can leave, sir.” I crossed to the door and open it upon a huge fresh bloodstain.
I caught just a glimpse of fiery eyes, and the sting of steel, as the ladies dragged me back numb.
I awoke in a nice room in another part of the house. “I don’t know where to begin.”
The younger lady said. “Only we may never, ever be allowed to reopen this Stone Inn.”

I live not far from this haunted Old Stone Tavern. The Bloodstain is the one factor I know for certain. I also know that not only will they not re-open the Inn, they discourage visitors of any kind, lest it stir up the Ghost…
