What in your view?

There are many ways in which to interpret the glass paperweight that Winston buys from Mr. Charrington.....I've always thought that it portrays his secret world with Julia and the trust that he shares with her,when it is smashed by the thought police, it symbloises that their world together is over.

What in your view does the glass paperweight with the pink coral inside represent?

It would be nice to hear everyone's different interpretations on this :)

Paperweight symbolize history; Winston remembers it and it's a prove that there was something before Party.

My interpretation of the glass paperweight was that although Winston's outer layer could be shattered and destroyed, his inside remained beautiful and just as alike as when it was first discovered. Who knows if its right or profound but that is what i got out of it. (:
