When Winston is in room 101, why does O'brien treat him badly but then really nice?? If he wanted to gain power wouldn't he just be mean??

I believe its almost like the good cop bad cop. Here he is being mean to him, then look, hes going to help him and be nice to him. I think its like psychological.

It's not about power, it's about love. W must love O'Brien and BB. Only then can they kill him.

The good cop/bad cop is good.
