I glanced at him
And through the pages he seemed to say
"Alas, Romance is dead!"

Seconds drag the scent of Roses
Into oblivion;
Tears are no longer shed for the loss of Daffodils.

Again I asked him:
Where have all the lovers gone?
Gone into hiding? Are they waiting for the revolution?

He is still silent.
He has not answered.
I do not believe that he ever will.

L'Amour est mort.
Vive l'Amour!

Interesting poem with lines that are fun to ponder.

I glanced at him
And through the pages he seemed to say
"Alas, Romance is dead!"
It would appear that the speaker is with someone, but then that someone speaks through words on a page. Throughout the poem that someone does not answer, and the speaker states that that answer might never come. This made me wonder if they were a deceased writer whose work does not answer that question. There are a lot of questions here, and I have a few guesses but very little positive answers, but its fun to search.

I also really liked,

Seconds drag the scent of Roses
which i think is a very good line.

Le Roman est mort.

Striking poem. Pity the novel died.

Yes my dictionary is not all it is cracked up to be. Checked up on my translation after receiving your comment and saw the vital error. Seeing as I can't find a better translation for the word I was looking for this will do. It was in the original version, but I changed it when transfering to online.

Oh, in that case I much preferred that the novel died. ;)

Although I believe true love lasts forever it is in my opinion much easier to resurrect a novel than a love that is possibly only one sided, of which I see in your poem.

Ah ! I loved this one Rider.

Till 3 stanzas, I found eerie feelings on statements, questions and his silence:

I glanced at him
And through the pages he seemed to say
"Alas, Romance is dead!"

Seconds drag the scent of Roses
Into oblivion;
Tears are no longer shed for the loss of Daffodils.

Keep up your good work !:thumbs_up

i particularly like the last line "tears are no longer shed for the loss of daffodils" the use of the word daffodils in place of a more traditional flower brings a sort of empathetic end of innocence to the conclusion of the poem. a winner in my mind.

I was once again corrected on my French so I made one final edit. Thanks for the compliments!

Le Amour est mort.
Vive le Amour!

Lovely, lovely poem - even though it brings up that bleakest of French songs, "Plaisirs d/amour"
