I've been given an essay title by my english teacher, and im struggling a bit with how to answer it.
"How does Orwell present partriarchal power in 1984?"

There are two ways you can look at this:
BB is the ultimate patriarch, so that's an easy one to use, but O'Brien clearly has a measure of it too and it's worth exploring why Winston still feels affinity with him, even though O'Brien has been torturing him.

You could also go into some vague detail on the recurring portrayal of O'Brian and Big Brother as father figures.
