View Full Version : Does something happen at 9:15 GMT?

For some reason the site seems to lock up at 9:15 GMT every day (which is frustrating both because I am usually on the site at 9:15 and because it reminds me that I am on the site at 9:15 every day). Is there some maintenance or something at that time?

Assuming my conversion is right, no, nothing at that time.
In US Mountain Time there are scripts that run at 4 and 6 in the morning nightly to back things up, then a larger one Sunday mornings at 7, that is it.

How bizarre - this happens every day whether I'm at home or at work, and the site seems to be inaccessible for 5 minutes. Perhaps it is a weird UK thing.

ooops, nevermind, didn't see your post till after I hit Submit Reply :p
--Fifth, maybe there is some (background?) scheduled maintenance going on with your computer? a virus scanner? software updater of some sort? you could try checking out your Scheduled Tasks in your Windows Control Panel, or, going into your Windoze Task Manager (hold the Ctrl and Alt keys while you click Delete key once) when it happens to see what's going on?

Silly me. I thought this was one of Fifth's poems. I was saying to myself, what an original title for a poem.

It can't be something computer related as it happens both at home and at work - we're not linked in anyway, the only common element is that it's lit-net - I have no problem accessing other internet sites. At 9:15 if I try to move around the site I get a 'time out' message, and this continues until 9:20.

You now realise I will have to write a poem with that title! Great idea Virge.

Perhaps it is just a time of high traffic? Sorry that I cannot offer more useful information.

To test Fifth's theory, today I came to the Forum at 9 am and yes, lo and behold, at around the time she mentioned (it started at 9.13 for me actually), I could not access to the site for about 6-7 minutes either.

The same happens to me too, sometime between 1:45 - 2:00 pm, India time. I ignored it, thinking this must be the usual time for server updates or something.

I really like the title for this thread...it draws me in every time, hoping it's some poem or narrative...Can someone please write one for my own satisfaction? :P

Say, that's 5:15 PM at GMT+8, right? I experience the same thing over here, only it happens more often. In fact, right now, at 2:44 PM, litnet has just recovered from its most recent lockdown.

Just happened to me :crash: from about local time 4:13-4:21AM EST (http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/north-america/canada/) or 9:13-9:21AM GMT (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/custom.html?sort=2)

I can confirm it. It happens to me as well.

It just happened again.
The time is now 09:26 GMT, and everything is back in working order. The site just died at around 9:15 GMT. Any attempt to refresh the view is rewarded with a blank page. No contact with the site whatsoever.

It just happened to me too! Funny.

Actually come to think of it, not sure of the time but around that time would be right the lit net goes funny then the computer needs restarting becasue what ever happens trips our internet connection and the wireless needs reseting.

Actually it happened to me too about a month ago, and i believe it was the five hours time difference from GMT. So it would be the same moment in time that Fifth experienced it.

I think that that is the time the daily backups happen.
IT takes a lot of computing power to backup the entire database, but not having daily backups would be worse because then if the system crashed... well... we'd lose everything

And of course we want you to back this place up: I am an administrator for another rather big forum, and the mere thought of a crash makes me cringe.

Hmmm ... now that explains why after about 3:00 a.m. (my time) everything goes awry -- my system freezes up and I am pretty much locked out. I just reBoot it all and then go to bed (where I ought to be at that time!) ;)

Yeah, the same happens here Kiz. I had that problem when we were chasing 10,000

Wild, B! Thanks for telling me this, because I really wondered about that.... And since you were at LitNet then, do you recall my just 'disappearing' from the board? As in, I didn't LogOff, but yet I got froze out? (I am curious about that)

well not exactly, because that happened to me too, and when I came back you were gone. Took me like 15 minutes to get back on...but it feels like a lifetime when i can't get my bloggarooney.
