NYT and my tastes must have really diverged! I only have The Rest is Noise from both those lists, and might be interested in reading only two --the de Lillo and the Munro -- from the 100 Best. To me they seem like surprisingly uninteresting lists this year. Must be getting old. :)

Intresting list though and I do enjoy book lists, though I must say by the descriptions, only one really struck my interest enough into wanting to read it.

Roberto Bolano's "Savage Detectives" is truly a masterpiece. I predict it will become a classic. Highly recommended.

Does any one know the criteria The NYTimes used to select that list of books?
