Alright, so I just read the part where Winston was caught by the Thought Police and is in jail. I was wondering, why did it take so long for Mr. Charrington to catch Winston? Maybe he was waiting for evidence? Although, it seems like there was enough evidence to denounce him right when Winston rented the room, but Mr. Charrington waited quite a while to come out and capture Winston and Julia.
It made me really angry and scared when the Thought Police showed up... I wanted Winston to make some progress against Big Brother and change society in some way. Plus, I thought Mr. Charrington was a sweet, little, old man that you could trust then all of a sudden he's part of the Thought Police. :rage: I thought it was pretty unexpected. :(
