Winston pays a visit to O'Brien and this is the first time that they have actually started talking to each other. O'Brien even turns off the telescreen. He asks Winston if he and julia are willing to separate for the brotherhood. Winston and Julia agree that nothing can make them stop loving each other. Afterwords, Winston feels that O'Brien is going to turn them in to the thought police. Can someone please help me understand this a little better please?:flare:

Winston is suspcious of O'Brian and genreally paranoid of everyone he meets becasue of the world he lives in. He does not truly know if O'Brian is really against the party or just trying to test him or get him to confess becasue he knows he has enganged in many activities that could get him in trouble and he constnatly thinks he will.

I think that Orwell is trying to tell us you can be enemies when you want to be.But if you let them talk to you and give you an opportunity to do something that you would never be allowed to do then,do it and it brings us back to the "War is Peace,Freedom is Slavery, and Ignorance is Strength".Because if you fight for something that like freedom then you will die for that and it becomes a duty, almost like slavery.
