"The Corrections" by Jonathen Franzen...sort of. It doesn't take place exclusively during Christmas, but kind of hinges on it, instead. An excellent book, none the less.

I’d actually recommend reading the Biblical gospels (the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). Of course Christians will enjoy getting back to the ‘true Christmas story’, but for non-Christians (such as myself) they are still a fascinating and remarkably easy read, and played a massive part in culture worldwide. As they all (essentially) tell the same story I’d advise everyone to look out for similarities and differences between the differing viewpoints.

Christmas is long gone, but I hope we'll have another one this year.
As much as I know many russian writers published their christmas stories. I would reccomend Dostoyevsky's "The Little Orphan", a true Christmas tale.

I just picked up The Year's Best Science Fiction, 2006 edition, and it includes a novella called Julian: A Christmas Story by Robert Charles Wilson. The editor seemed to think well of it, but I haven't read it yet. I don't know whether you're into sci-fi at all; just thought I'd point it out.
