I must echo Thinker. An excuse requires a reason. What is the reason that we are to give an excuse for, if any? I left an apology on another thread in this section, for example. I won't make an excuse, I'll give a reason: I allowed emotions to get ahead of my mind and mouth, and said things that upon review, I regretted saying. One must have a reason before an excuse is offered.
