What exactly was George Orwell's thesis in Animal Farm?

He just described situation in Russia, pointing actually nothing. If he had placed real names people would call it ''political anti-communist manifesto'' and on this way it became eternal story of good and evil, although clearly pointing on situation in those days.

He didn't agree with the Russia of Stalin. I don't think it was an anticomunist manifest... It was just an antiStalin-comunist manisfest. He agreed with Comunism, in a way maybe with Lenin but not with Stalin. It is seen in the begining of Animal Farm where in a way he says that the working class must 'fight for' their rights but when the power corrupted one of the pigs (Stalin) the situation changed.

That's the essence of communism and he is showing what in theory should it look like, like Old Major said it. I never got the feeling it's his personal opinion.

Why not? He was an activist in POUM here in Catalonia and critiziced the Stalinism but it doesn't mean he didn't believe in comunism at all. POUM were marxists so... I think his political ideas are reflected in Animal Farm.

I can see your confusion, but you need to remember that Orwell was primarily fighting Fascism in Spain.

He makes it plain in his essays and elsewhere that he is a democratic socialist and that he actually despises communism as naive and unworkable.
