Is Julia Dead???

I am very confused about wether or not Julia is dead because it says that Winston thinks she is. A steamer dropped and threw them in the air when they were walking around together,and now they are together in the little apartment that Winston rented in the proles section. Was he dreaming, he does a lot of that? Maybe was he telling about the past right after that happen?

I believe that he met her after they were released from room 101 but they just didn't have the same feelings. Have you finished the book?

The passage you're talking about was when Winston was convinced that Julia looked dead, corpse-like as she's covered in white plaster.

The passage is a little misleading, I had to reread it a few times to figure out that he only believed her dead for those few moments.
