Classic Birthday

What do you write to a lady who is so charming it’s classical?
My fingers dance down the ivory keys in an attempt at the song.
When she enters the room, the gent’s hearts all trip the light fantastical.
And she gives a wink or a smile but she’s not doing anything wrong.
She’d rather hear me play the notes from The William Tell Overture,
Than dance music I usually play when the lights dim at this hour.
She can hear the hoof beats of the horses and dream of days of adventure,
You see her favorite fellow doesn’t dance on two feet but four…
One of these evenings they will ride off into the sunset together,
And perhaps by then some young buck will have captured her heart.
Two people, two horses vanishing into the dust of forever,
Not the end of the story at all friend, probably just the latest fresh start.
Well, the sonnet singer pauses, and his fingers find familiar little tunes:
“Happy Birthday, Classic Charm, my dear. Happy Birthday to you…”
