Winstons Eycatch with prisoner

In the end of Chapter 1 during part 2, Winston catches the eye of one of the prisoners that is passing in a cart while he is with Julia. Something is telling me there may have been a significane to this. Is there? I thought and thought and could not think of any significance. Please help:crash:

No significance whatsoever, although you could stretch things to make a case that it was because of this that W realised the prisoners were actually people.
