Well it's pretty obvious. The inner party would eventually destroy each other. The urge for Individual power would tear the party in two. It's called greed and someone will always be wanting more power than another person and others would follow along causing them to take sides.
It's not the proles which would rebel it's the inner party members themselves
Anyway the appendix was written in past tense which pretty much says the party is ultimately overthrown. Just ashame there was no 1985;)

You've completely missed the point of doublethink. An Inner Party member would never betray the Party, because each and every one of them is the Party. Check again how O'Brien speaks about it - his path to immortality is via the Party. He cannot live forever, but the Party will and if he can imbue a little of his spirit into it, he gains immortality by proxy.

Not at all. We've discussed this at length in a couple of recent threads. Check over on the second page of threads and read a few of them - they're pretty self-explanatory from the thread titles.
