Within your voice
there is another
that sings
as you weep.
Within your sad voice
there is one
that is fairly bursting
with glee!
Glad songs
go out from the mountaintops
but are not always heard
in the valleys deep below.
The sailors far out at sea
are for the most part rough
and raunchy men,
but among them is a poet
writing love songs to the night

Like a lightning bolt! This is the firework that rises in you and then you wait for it to explode...and when it does this is what it looks like.

This song is indeed a good one, and of course there is something in it that moves all of us deeply.
It is indeed hard to fathom the depth of your poem, for there is a commingling of sadness and something that indicates otherthings than sadness.
There is one who is weeping, and indeed in the weeping of him or her there is someone singing, and whether one is singing with an undernote of melancholy or joyousness is a matter hard to know, and indeed there is something latently or inherently ingrained in the poem.
That is indeed how poems are written, not everythiing is expressly written
Anyway, notwithstanding a little difficult for me to comprehend the core meaning of your poem, overall I like it. Please carry on composing more to entertain us on the forum.

This ending....

I think that there is hope in this poem, like a light in the dark. There will always be something, or someone, deep inside us, who will keep smiling. It makes me think also that there are beautiful things everywhere, and that we just have to pay attention in order to notice them.
Wow, Jerry Newman!! ;)

Through the plate-glass window
of my café I notice a woman
start to slip on the icy sidewalk,
recover, and carry on.
A moment in her history.
A different one in mine but,
perhaps, the only one we’ll ever share.
