One of the things that really kind of annoyed me about Juilia and Winston, was when they were finally found out and captured, and The Party had come to the pawn shop to collect them, and they just hung thier heads and went with them. After all thier attempts at rebelling and thier hate for the Party, I was just really bothered that they did not try to make any sort of stand.

At that moment they knew they were doomed and there was no true hope, and they knew they would be tortured and most likely killed. So when there was nothing else to loose, what more could they have possibly to fear? They new cooperation would not buy them any true salvation, so I thought they should have at least made it difficult on the Party, even if they did not have a true hope of escaping, they should have faught instead of just altogether give up.

I think the fact that they did not fight or attempt to escape showed the hopelessness of their lives in the society run by BB. We would all like to think there would be some hope, but how much fight would we have if we knew it was totally hopeless?

They were imbued with obedience. It's something they rehearsed every day, every hour, every minute. Do what you're told.

Behavior pattern that becomes really hard to break spontaneously.

Yes that is true, and I have considered it, but on the other hand, they were not as tied down to this need of obedience as everyone else, considering everything else they did was pure disobedence though I can see where the idea of obedience would still be within thier pysche.

I was just rooting from them to do something to fight back, even though I did not beleive there would acutally be a happy ending, I did not think they should have went down so bleakly.
