This is my English assignment it was pretty easy, but please post on this it will help me get a better grade...
A Child Called It will get anger boiling in your veins with the wicked descriptions of abuse and torture. Dave Pelzer’s life is an epic battle between him and his family, in which, Dave eventually comes out on top. “Mother’s eyes were glazed and red, and her breath smelled of booze. I closed my eyes as the oncoming blows began to rock me from side to side. I tried to protect my face with my hands, but Mother would only knock them away. Her punches seemed to last forever. Finally, I sneaked my left arm up to cover my face. As mother grabbed my arm, she lost her balance and staggered back a step. As she jerked violently to regain her stability, I heard something pop, and felt an intense pain in my shoulder and arm” (Pelzer 34) Abuse such as this is completely different from occasionally spanking your child. This behavior is not deserved, and it should be outlawed. Pelzer is so brave in this story that it can give you an emotional lift at the end, just seeing him triumph. He is still afraid that his mother will find him even after he has been taken in by a foster family. Pelzer creates an intricate web of emotions as he weaves his way through his past. His problems can’t easily be related to those in your own life, all you can do is sit there and feel him struggle, without being able to do anything about it. A book like this on makes you squirm in your seat, and want to get out there and change the world you’re living in.
