View Full Version : Still Life With Woodpecker - Tom Robbins
I know you shouldn't judge the book by the cover, but that's exactly what I did when I bought Still Life With Woodpecker. The write up on the back was intriguing and the cover is a pack of Camel cigarettes (with addition of Woodpecker, match and stick of dynamite). Being an ex-camel smoker I decided I had to have this book. Well, and the read? Weird and totally wonderful! Smoking doesn't feature in it but firestarting (in many unexpected ways) does. It's an anti-fairy tale complete with princess (fallen on hard times) and frog, rip-roaringly funny and ingenious. Im glad the cover caught my eye!

This is the book that started my love affiar with Tom Robbins. My sister lent me this book to read and I could hardly even put it down, and after reading it I began my quest to buy anything by the author I could find. And I was not disspointed.
I think his writing is truly genius.

b) all his books must be on my reading list.
