I am writing a paper for English on "A Tale of Two Cities" and have to address the following question. Can anyone help?

How does religion color the attitudes of the characters in this novel? Compare Sydney Carton to Lucie Manette, or Jerry Cruncher to the Defarges.

Thanks for any help.

I don't think religion has anything to do with the story. It's more a question of focus. Carton has no real focus in life. He wanders aimlessly. Lucie has her family to hold her together and give her some focus. Jerry... he has no real focus. He just... survives. The DeFarges are VERY focused.
