Hello! I'm Clawmute ,- Frank - ,and have not posted here before. I look forward to reading some of the fine work posted here! We live above a stream in the Ouachita Mountains of West central Arkansas - the photo shows it, and love nature. So I wrote this. Hello again!

Flowing

Beads forming, drops merging
tiny tricklets run on down
scores and hundreds trickles joining
in mountain mazes winding round

off gray ledges waters leaping
grown to rushing, upward heaping
whirling, bounding, ever growing
cascades riot, not quite flowing

a savage, boiling, frothy showing
charging jagged flint, now flowing
headlong into pools and hollows
motley flotsam riding high

roaring steeply down through gorges
sheer faced mossy granite hands
rays of mist birth peacock rainbows
down away to delta lands

wider now though sometimes parting
joined again far from the starting
merged again through many turnings
blended waters onward churning

tribes of waters dance as one
gleaming in the noon day sun
shimmering under midnight moon
stealthy in a cloudy gloom

wheeling, tilting, cupping wings
scant above tan waves
speeding flights of waterfowl
seek murky river twilight bays

darkly, boldly flowing ever
dawn then twilight greet the river
greet fierce squalls and monsoon bands
flotsam, jetsam joining hands

river dwellers mull the flow
net gray fish that dwell below
harvest wood that floats above
glean the strength that’s flowing down

delta river brown and grown
wise with age, youth all sown
toiling for the sea forever
still labors, flowing down

ClaweMute, you indeed have muted me too, for this poem jogs my memory, an d i transport me back to my village and revives my youthfulness. For,

I too live in a mountainous village
Growing there I was close to rivers,
Lakes, ponds and canals.

My life was indeed fluid then,
I dreamed of Saturdays or long vacatios
I was a student
But the spirit was of course flooded with watery substances,
Liquidized of course, readied to flow all the while

My spirit always flowed with the river I lived hard by
I felt like falling when the river fell
Indeed I felt lke running and speeding with river.

I was as wild as the river
