I need to find a book about cultural studies by American author.

I have works by Hoggart, Paul Gilroy, Z. Sardar, and my personal favourite, Roland Barthes. But my professor says it's not enough! She insists on using American author, as the book I need to analyse is also by an American author. (Guess she never heard of globalization :)) Plus, it must be someone recent - published after 2000, that is.

Any ideas? Please?

I did some research on Google already, of course, but I'd prefer personal recommendations, something you know is good and helpful. :)

Ruby Payne has written many books about poverty and unspoken rules of economic class. I think these books are must reads. I like this one best.

Thanks, the book sounds interesting, but I was thinking of something more general. Pherhaps some book that American professors presribe to their students at the beginning of the Cultural Studies course. :)

My problem is that I only read British theories and as far as I know, there are differences between British and American "Cultural Studies". I know nothing about American theories, so I guess I should start with some introduction... to find out what differencies are 9and if I can use something of what I learned already after all or not).

The Lexus and The Olive Tree -- Thomas Friedman

It's about globalization and also the writer is an American journalist
