"It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words." Syme
Wow. It's such an interesting quote to think about. To destroy words seems so unthinkable right now. There's definitely a motive behind that in 1984. Getting rid of words like bad, excellent, or splendid limits people vocabulary. Plus calling someone ungood as opposed to bad doesn't sounds as well, bad.
But will it be like that in the future? Do you believe people will destroy words, limiting our vocabulary and taking away our words of expression in the future?

Nope, exactly the opposite, in fact.
English is growing at the fastest rate it ever has, with new words being spawned daily by music artists, street gangs, local dialects and simply poor usage.
When words like "unique" start to be qualified - very unique - at the same time that words like "bling" are added to the language, English is in danger of becoming the language of the Tower of Babel and it may not be too many years before people who all claim to speak English can't understand each other.

I dont believe that at all. It might become like Newspeak, some understand it but most dont. Its a conversion of the languages, and it will be a slow process to teach everyone, but in the end, we'll all speak the same language. Its the younger generations that will have to help the older generations.
The younger generations have it so lucky.
But heres a question....
do you think at some point in world history, there will be one language EVERYONE in the world can speak? Yea, we might have our old language, but will there be a universal language?

Well that's a little off subject when concerning newspeak. It isn't about a new language, it's about getting rid of the thought-envoking nature of language. Where they take away degrees of description, from bad to poor, all the way to morbid and horrid, and converting them to almost scientific terms of ungood, doubleungood, tripleungood, ect.
The problem the totalitarian government faces with the current english language is that by teaching it to people, it teaches them to think. They want to eradicate all thought in all it's forms, and so the scientific language of newspeak comes into play.

Doesn't is smack of political correctness?

You don't need to agree with my conclusion, but the enormous (and unprecedented) growth of the number of words now classed as "English" is factual and verifiable.

We nearly have that now with English the default lingua franca in business, which is the only use which really matters.
As to everyone speaking it? Possible, but unlikely, simply because only a small percentage of people will be interacting with foreigners.
