The Watcher, The Crawler, The Killer

The spider watches as they sleep
The children dream their peaceful dreams
The spider crawls in creepish steps
With plans to cause some panicked screams

And down the wall the spider comes
Onto their bed and satin sheets
So slowly does he sneak his way
Toward his goal of kiddie sweets

And now the spiders fangs prepare
To sink into one dreamers arm
The poison drips from off the tips
In hope of doing deadly harm

As skin gives way to sharpened fang
The night is pierced with screams and death
The spider laughs behind the bed
As dreamer takes his final breath

Gives me the shivers, to imagine the scene.:eek2: Spiders scare meeeee.
Makes me think of all those things that await us, in the dark. That's a good poem to post on a Halloween night!
I like the way you went slow in describing the actions. It was nice also, the way you opposed the spider to the children and the satin sheets. Maybe this poem could be a reflection of the hurtful, unfair and unexpected events of life?

Ditto! I second Sweets' remarks. Beautifully managed, the stateliness of the pace heightened the suspense.
