Hi,

I am new to all this. My last post seem to have gotten lost. I am not of the internet generation. I'm a children's libraian so I do switch between adult literature and children's. I'm also a storyteller and a big movie fan espcially the classical ones of the 30's-50's. Stories are my lifeblood. So, I suppose the best way to introduce myself is with my top list of books.

Count of Monte Cristo - A perfect book that has it all.
The Last Unicorn - A chicken soup book when I am down.
Baby Be Bop - A happy YA book. A hug when you need one.
The Writer's Journey - Provides a useful map for seeing how stories work or don't work especially in movies.
Frankenstein - How did Mary Shelly think this one up?

My other main intrest is collecting European Boad Games such as Inca Gold, Taxis and Thurn, and Queen's Necklace. Though I am in the older age range I do enjoy a good disscussion. It one way to keep fresh and young.

Hope to hear from the others. Especially what are you favoriate books? Maybe then we all can discover new books.

Hi Pandora Eve, I am new here myself. So join in! I too enjoy a wide range of books and cinema, and I love listening to people tell stories!
I specially love old black and white films, screwball comedies, film-noir, and movies from the 40s and 50s from all countries. I love reading good children's books as much as serious adult fiction.

This website is huge, cavernous and I get lost easily and often.

I hope you have a lot of fun here!!

Hi,
Thanks for all your replies. I'm trying to respond to you but, having trouble. Third time the charm?

Weisinheimer - It seems that the Count of Monte Cristo is a popluar choice on this website. It was looking at the Dumas page that got me on to this network. Have you read Twenty Years After? I have posted a question about Mordant the villian. Though he was too bloodthristy I thought like the Count he did have a case. Love the cartoon.

Oniw17 - Sorry haven't read Keith Taylor or Steven Pressfield. Why Socrates?

Naya Cos - I mostly stick to English language movies. Some of my favorites have been Casablanca (if not the most beloved certainly the most quoted - at least for English language) Inerit the Wind, Watch on the Rhine (Bette Davis and Lillian Helman!) and The Night of the Hunter unfortunely the only movie Charles Laughton ever directed. My favorite actress is Bette Davis and actor is Roddy McDowell. As to children's books what have been some of your favorites. For me its Shiloh and sequels, Full Tilt, Cirque Du Freak, The Thief Lord, and Because of Winn Dixie - THE DOG DIDN'T DIE!!!!

Right now it is Chirstmas time in the library. We had ordered some new books and now they are coming in! Brand new books to explore and discover. This is one of great perks of the job. It does mean though I will be reading children's books for awhile.

I haven't read Twenty Years After. I didn't much like the Three Musketeers, so I didn't read any of the sequels. Musketeers and The Count are the only books of Dumas that I've read, though I think I'll try the Black Tulip, or do you recommend another Dumas?

BTW, if you have any questions about how to use the site, feel free to pm me. Or you can ask pretty much any member, we'd all be glad to help.

The Thousand and one Ghost was very different if you like ghost stories. Twenty Years After was my favorite of The Musketeers seires. If you like the Count, Mordant (the Count gone bad) is someone to look up plus D'Artengan is his best there. I didn't like the Musketeers books after Twenty Years After. I read The Black Tulip which I enjoyed but it wasn't as meaty as The Musketeers or The Count.
