Yup. I always wanted to be that magazine consultant personm to whom everybody ask questions.

So, ask away!

You can ask anything!

The options are endless!

And unlike a magazine which just chooses the question, I'll actually answer.

You can even PM me with the question. And I'll post the answer here (you'll be anonymous too!)

Ask away:

about fashion, science, random philosophy, obscure themes, opinions...

(just like a magazine!)

Ask Bakiryu! (and keep my thread alive  )

it's German for: Scream as Loud as You Can!

I got it from the song Schrei (Scream) by Tokio Hotel

it's ok, I'll explain further.

The British (weirdos they are) have a television show about this chap, the doctor who just travels around time. The tardis is his time machine, which just happen to look like that pic I posted (Is all on the wikipedia link).

So, what is the meaning of life?

Life is: the condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally. (got that from the dictionary)!

what, you wanted something else? the meaning of life is to be alive.

ohh...okay :)

where did you get your username? :p

It just came to me while writing poetry. It actually means: Baki= eternal (in turkish or similar language) Ryu = japanese word for dragon. Bakiryu = Eternal Dragon.

are ears different from the rest of your skin? I'm not just talking inner
"major-wax-producer" ear. I'm talking about the exterior ear. Is it different from the regular epidermis (i.e. the one that covers say your arms and legs). Are the outer ears different somehow and do they secrete wax as well?

Well, i'm not well versed in the subject but by simple touch they do feel the same. However the skin of your ear seems to bleed less when cut than the skin of your arm. Also, ears are a bit softer and more delicate (they burn with the sun). I think ear wax only comes from the inside ear.

Like Pensive said. They may look happy but they're not. They can't go back on time or be eternally beautiful. Most celebrities are appreciated for their beauty or voice and when they get old we forget about them.

Nobody can have what they want, even if you're rich.

If researchers are correct, evolution has prompted the human male to choose for his mate a human female who
fits a certain standard of beauty ( the standard of which the researchers have also discovered varies very little across cultures and centuries.)
If that is the case -- if males have mated with beautiful women for millennia , why is the world filled with so many unattractive people?

Dear Magazine Person Who Answers Questions,

I am a young beautiful girl and I have two boyfriends. Now, as it happens, I feel in love with a third one. But I know that one of them is also in love with my best friend's cousin. This cousin is very hot and has a twin who is in love with my sister's cat. This is all pretty confusing and all I want to do is actually change sex and become a man to marry my gay lover. But I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I have been considering harakiri, or mass murder. What would you recommend?

Yours sincerely,

Scorpio92

[do people who write in magazine in your countries sign with their zodiac sign or other pseudonym, and their year of birth?? In Italy they do and I find it so ridicolous it's hilarious. This is also why I have bias against internet nicknames involving the year of birth...]

Why do people hate?

because they fear difference and are taught by society. We mimic those around us and hate is a learned thing that like love, we learn quickly.

Why is it that I don't take good care of my teeth, and I still don't have any cavities. . . . . . . . .

Because (like me) you have stronger teeth (depends on the kinds of food you eat, for example if you drink lots of milk.)

If that is the case -- if males have mated with beautiful women for millennia , why is the world filled with so many unattractive people?

Because some of these people weren't attracted to beauty. Not every man likes a perfect blonde. And besides, the rearrangement of genes doesn't often give a beautiful offspring. (ugly people still get some and they have kids, don't they? :alien: )

Why Not?

I meant in the context of being a celebrity. How many religiously at peace celebrities have you heard of?

Dear Scorpio92

While the conflicting emotions of adolescence may lead you to consider suicide or mass murder, I would first recommend investing into some therapy before giving this situation more thought.

Some questions I've recently thought of:

If Russia is part of Asia, why aren't Russians considered Asians? Are they? I mean, appearance-wise. You know what I'm sayin'?

Why is "genius" spelled "genius" and "ingenious" spelled..."ingenious"?

Please answer, oh wise and benevolent Baki!

Can I give my answer can I give my answer...
Russia can be defined as Eurasia. Geographically, part of it is in Europe, part of it is in Asia (Europe finishing at the Ural mountains, around Ekaterinburg for example if I'm not mistaken). Ethnic Russian, as in Slavic people, don't look Asian. Russians of non-Slavic origin sometimes do, like the Kazakhs (who are another country but some still live in Russia or there are similar populations living in the Russian Federation). Some also look middle-Eastern... Russia is made up of several nations/ethnicities, because first the Tsars conquered such a vast territory including lots of tribes there, and then they mixed even more at the time of the Soviet Union, when also many nations were moved around (ask Stalin). Some want independance, hence the Chechnya thing...
Culturally, I don't think most Russians, even in the European part, identify as Europeans, they consider Russia to be unique. Although of course there are other theories.

Sorry, I only have two degrees in Russian studies  And still I do oversimplify a lot.
Now Baki can give her answer

This may seem cocky, but my two problems with men are: I seem to attract creeps, and the kind of men I deserve don't think they've got a shot in hell, so they don't ask me out.

Most of the dates and relationships I've had have happened because I asked the other person out. I've been in two major relationships with very attractive, bright men, and I'd like to experience that again.

I'm so sick of meeting creeps! I really want someone in my league. I've been told a thousand times that I'm gorgeous, stunning, or asked why I'm not modeling. i've no idea what gamo means however if she's bothering you guys so mucn sit her down and have a talk with her. if it doesn't work maybe you should try a family intervention.

well, you could make a bunch of presents and wrap them up in gold ribbon just for the heck of it. or you could make a gold ribbon curtain, a gold ribbon purse, sew yourself something cute or if nothing else give it to someone else who can find a use for it :)

Dear Bakiryu,
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie-pop?

depending on the size of the tootsie pop and the size of your tongue it's usually 379 if ya do it very slooooooooowly.

What is your favorite kind of vegetable?

Carrots (since tomatoes are a fruit :( ). I love their sweetness. That or potatoes. (can't seem to choose)

depends. while i don't usually dream I've read that the most people usually dream in color with a few sporadic black and white dreams in between.

just talk to them person to person. get your parents together (when they're relaxed since it'll be worse if they're angry) and have a family talk about their differences. then suggest, that if they can't fix their problems it's time either for some therapy or a divorce since their begin together and arguing all the time is the same as them psychologically abusing you.

Gaining weight it's easy because the body is absorbing what you give it.

Think of your body like a moist cake. You pour syrup on it and it absorbs it, then you have to really squeeze it and let it sit to shake the syrup out.

Your body it's the same since the food you ate is now part of you (all that fatty tissue!) your weight-losing metabolism is slower.

Tomorrow it is going to be 73 F. I am flying home where it is supposed to be 53F, the next two days will be in the 40's. Do I lug a coat on the plane or do I just freeze a little while I'm there?

take the coat that way you'll be comfy instead of mentally kicking yourself when it gets cold. Unless you have more coats at home, then just leave it and get a coat there.

brainstorm.

Get some sheets of paper and write everything you can think of about thanksgiving.

For example, what are you thankful for, food items and such.

then read something that inspires you to write, meanwhile just doodle out a few poems without putting pressure in yourself.

try to understand her. Mothers have a lot to deal with sometimes and of course it makes them angry, just agree with her and be helpful until she's not so angry anymore.

It'd help if in a day when she's not so angry, you asked her what makes her so mad. (tactfully, of course)

get a hard shell taco or a taco wrap, then hold the taco firmly and take big bites. if this doesn't work then make your own homemade tacos, they'll be firmer and tastier!

th magic of wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit#Mouth
"Rabbits are generally nocturnal, and they also are relatively silent. Other than loud screams when frightened or caught by a predator, the only auditory signal known for most species is a loud foot thump made to indicate alarm or aggression. A notable exception is the volcano rabbit of Mexico, which utters a variety of calls."

Toni, you'll never conquer your fears if you don't confront them, next time stand up, and even if you're afraid just do what you went there to do. It would also help you to practice your public speaking skills for when another opportunity presents itself.

Who are these 'Some people' you refer to?

A clan of igneous pygmies up in the mountain :p

Why would Bob choose to annoy you?

because the great overlord known as "THE AUTHOR" of Bob's story wrote it down to paper.

What is it you do not know the answer to?

Too many things to write down. The list would reach around the world three hundred thrice.

Where is Bob going, if not to you?

To the same place to where all the other Bob's from all other dimensions are going, their writers haven't yet decided but if they'd tell me, I'll let you know.

When did you first realize you do not know bob?

If you really think about it, you'd need to make enough space for it, so if we managed to create a portable wormhole (or a vortex in the universe) which could be filled with chocolate. The only problem is that it'd would affect the space-time continuum and create a rip on the fabric of the universe, thus destroying all life as we know it.

TSome of the birds may have been eaten by the Dutch sailors who discovered them. However, the primary causes of their extinction were the destruction of the forest (which cut off the Dodo's food supply), and the animals that the sailors brought with them, including cats, rats, and pigs, which destroyed Dodo nests.

A moving stream of information
That is floating on the wind
The secrets never end
And now they call
They sing, they play, they dance for you
From out of the blue
What can you do?

I love it! And the video is so beautiful too.....:p

I have been watching videos and listening to different chantings of the heart sutra in different languages, and in each of them it seems like the most liberated poetry and song, and lately I have begun to see the self-illuminating wisdom flowering everywhere. is this just my imagination?

Or do you like this song? http://vidsearch.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1016607

of course not. Self-illuminating wisdom is everywhere.

I like the melody of it, but his voice is a bit too deep.

How do you do the impossible? o.O

by figuring out what it is first.

there's many degrees of impossible for many people.

for example, my impossible is singing in perfect pitch, which may be possible for other people.

Once you figure out YOUR impossible, you just work at it 'til it's possible.

If you have to take a photo hold on your camera well. I'd recommend taking a photo from dry land using a zoom but if you a photo of the view from the wheel then by all means do. (unless it's not moving smoothly). and HOLD ON TO THE CAMERA WELL.

I would do both I think. Keep it private and share pieces of it slowly. people's opinions are usually based on their emotions and if they feel resentment or anger towards you they won't really take your work as seriously.

I guess it depends on what different people can bear. If you feel extremely strong about it, share with those most likely to weight in the options and still care.

i would recommend weighting the pros and the cons of such an action first, then if one far more outweighs the other, decide upon that line of action without regret.

Dear Bakiryu,

I have a wonderful daughter and she is just nearly flawless, but there is one problem. She left crimson nail polish out where her brothers or the dog could get it and the lid wasn’t on tight- now there is a crimson spot on my carpet. Since then she has not been allowed to use nail polish. Tonight she offered to paint my toenails and I took her up on it. I requested black toenails with hot pink flowers on them. She painted four of my toes, became distracted by funny internet videos and left the polish out where her brothers or the dog could get to it with the lid not on tight and now there is a black spot next to the red spot. What should I do with such a girl?

Thanks in advance,

Oooooooooooh, Bad Bailey, bad.

I think you talk to her about paying more attention to what she does and if she doesn't (and another spot appears :p ) give her a sound punishment.

Now, I'm not a mother but a teenage girl but I would suggest making her clean the carpet by hand. My mother made me do it once when I spilled nail polish in the carpet and since then I've watched by nail polish bottles so they don't spill again.

What is a Lote-Tree? ;-)

You know. You said a while ago it was mystical, moving tree or something.

and according to wiki:
The Lote Tree is not an actual tree on Earth, but a mystical Islamic metaphor concerning the uppermost boundary in knowledge a human being can possess concerning God. It comes from the Qu'ran chapter 53, An-Najm (The Star), verses 10-18 and alludes to Muhammad's night journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then through Heaven. "The Lote Tree of the furthest boundary," as it is called, is believed to be the furthest anyone can travel in Heaven in their approach to God; beyond this none can pass.

I always feel that way, i'm always singing on my head my favorite band's music, and even yesterday I dreamed about them!

I think music was created to be infectious and powerful, otherwise, how would we love it so much, how would it make us laugh and cry. even though music is just a mix of sounds and lyrics, good music was made to move us.

I don't think there's a most powerful form of art. Art is art. Anything that can make us feel emotion and amazement is a powerful facet of art.'

Why on seeing care being returned for no care so many times, some still say you only reap whatever you sow?

Because people are dumb like that and pretend the world is a fair place when clearly it's not.

hey Baki, I need some info about emo kids.
lately, I've seen some couples of emo girls walking around either hand in hand or just walking around together... the point is, they were styled so similarly that they looked almost like twins. was that only my impression or is there really an emo trend where girls try to look identical?
plus, the ones who hold hands, are they lesbians or best friends or both?

last term, I had those two girls in my tutorial who looked 98% alike. they didn't wear emo clothes or dye their hair, but they looked so similar, I never knew which was which. they weren't related or anything.
One of them was a really mean ***** and kept disrupting our sessions, so I had to snarl at her. but I was never really able to figure out which of them to snarl at.
I thought it was only me, because I often have difficulty remembering the names of girls when they all wear the same clothes, hair style etc... but after seeing those emo twins I'm beginning to think that my girls were the sort of lesbian who hate talking to anyone else... or maybe emo best friends who hate everyone else ????

Well, the trend among emo girls is usually to look like emo guys. Since there's not really a lot of diversity most emos, irregardless of gender, look the same. Experimentation is a big emo thing, so they're probably dating or really-really-really close friends.

There are lots of trends where girls dress like each other in order to belong to a certain group. Maybe both of them just followed a fashion, yeah, they're probably either dating or really close.

What was the difference between acid washed and stone washed jeans? And what kind of acid did they use? And about the stone washed jeans...were there actually stones involved in coloring of this jeans fabric?

"stone washed" jeans: As the name implies, freshly dyed jeans are loaded into large washing machines and tumbled with stones. Adding pumice stones gives the additional effect of a faded or worn look. The pumice abrades the surface of the jeans like sandpaper, removing some dye particles from the surfaces of the yarn.

"Acid Washed": At first the Acid Wash process involved soaking pumice in Industrial Strength Chlorine however is was discovered that potassium permanganate was more controllable and just as strong an oxidizer. They simple(sic) marinated pumice stone in it and then vacuum packed the stone to the required moisture level. Acid wash was a chemical processed denim that stripped the top layer of color off to a white surface with the undertones of navy blue remaining in the jeans. And not only jeans were acid washed; if you were truly fashionable, you also had an acid washed denim jacket that matched said acid washed jeans."

Why do some people wash their hair without showering the rest of their body and other people wear shower caps so their hair does get wet when they shower?

A) because they were never instructed on proper shower procedure or got dirty hair and a clean body.

B) Because too much hair washing is bad for you hair and you do shower every day, right? Hair needs protection.

Bakiryu, do you think the world woudl be a better place if Alexaner the Great hadn't died at 32, but had gone on to conquer most of the rest of the known world? What about if he had died before he became "the Great?" I know this question is random, but I have been reading a lot of counterfactuals lately and I'm curious about your opinion.

I once worked overnights at a place that turned regular dark jeans into stone washed jeans. Talk about a crappy job! It's really rocks and there are different kinds of rocks that make different shades of jeans- I'm allergic to all of them

baki,

I have been cooking and canning all of these veggies from the garden. I start when I get up and sometimes I'm up until 1 or 2 am finnishing up. My kitchen is in a mess and I don't want to cook supper. What should I feed the kids tonight?

If you've been making veggies, then give them some veggies, you won't have to do much work.

When I don't feel like cooking, I can get away with a pasta of choice (usually angel hair, though), with a tomato pasta sauce (like Prego, chunky variety) and a huge crisp green salad with tomatoes a-plenty. Warm up some bread (or toast rye bread) and you got yourself a meal.

I went with meat loaf (turkey), steamed broccoli, and baked potato. But I really wanted to just give everyone a bowl of cereal!

You made meatloaf, steamed broccoli, and baked potato on a day that you didn't want to cook??? Holy Carp. What do you make when you want to cook??

(cereal is always a good choice for dinner I say)

Cereal is an excellent choice, lol!

But I do remember my mom making grilled cheese sandwiches (she had five kids and this was easy, if you had two loaves of bread, lol). And she'd serve one tin of vegetable soup mixed with one tin of tomato soup (and dilute accordingly) -- us kids really liked this particular meal, not knowing that it was really a 'I just don't have the energy to prepare a formal meal' type of meal ... Ok I'll quit, Baki, I think I am verging on hijacking this thread -- forgive me! ;)

What is man born to die?

Is there a technique to generate good moods all the time? Any therapy?

What is man born to die?

um, could you clarify this question? I don't really understand the phrasing?

Is there a technique to generate good moods all the time? Any therapy?

Music works and anything that detracts from the world. But no, happiness is only transient. If we were happy all the time or in a good mood how would we know we are?
