As an assignment for my English class I need to find a Non-Fiction Short Story (only guideline is under 45 pages and by a reputable author), read it, and respond to it. I love to read and am excited to do this, but I've hit a snag trying to find one online.
The only non-fiction short stories I can reliably seem to find are autobiographies. I'm more interested in something creative and fun to read (not that biographies are always boring to read, but I don't particularly enjoy them) that fits this category. Does anyone have any particular suggestions (there is no minimum requirement, so 10 pages works as does 30) or helpful tips in searching online?
If not I'll just go get a new library card and see what I can check out, but either ways thanks for your time.
Edit: My biggest problem has been determining if a short story is non fiction or not. It's easy to find a multitude of short stories online, but when browsing through them I find it's hard to figure out if they are fiction. An example is Hawthorne -- I know he has a lot of short stories and they appear to be non-fiction (often times), but I really don't know.
