Heights
Dizzy with excitement I climbed the heights
Peak after peak with such sure-footedness
I ascended without fear or cowardice
And I experienced joy at the tops.
Below it was dark, easily forgotten
The abandoned memories are buried deep
The dreams died of lack of motivation
But these things are in the past not to be remembered.
Though it is lonely up here, lonely and cold
None can reach me here - none can come to stay
And though I might shed a tear or two
But I can say this I will have no regrets.
The surrounding around me was dead
Long before I came to recognise its deadness
Long before I understood the futility of things
That embraces the material husk of an existence.
These wooden relationships they deserve to decay
They deserve to rot away and become one with the earth
For unity - the heart of all things - will teach us
The sacredness of all that lives and breathes.
But the heights - mysterious as ever - is a far place
No matter how high I climb there is always a peak higher
And thus my confidence soon gives away
To uncertainty and the undead dreams comes to haunt.
Dizzy with excitement I climbed the heights
Peak after peak with such sure-footedness

And I experienced joy at the tops.
