Me

In solitude
Envaded by dreadful gloom.
I think
What am I?

The blue-bird that sings the songs of happiness
Or the bat that flaps its wings to survive in the dark?
The bird everyone loves to hear to?
Or the demon horrifying the human-kind?
Am I the mixture of both?

In solitude
Trying to discover myself which is
A stranger to me.
I think
What am I?

The shape-shifter that changes itself
According to world's ways every second?
Or the glass not ready to bend until it breaks?
Am I the mixture of both?

In solitude
Ignoring the good, oblivious of bad
Just concerning on myself
About the purity of my being
I think
What am I?

The girl combing words to get attention and calling it poetry?
Or the poet writing just for the sake of writing?
Like she needs air.
Am I the mixture of both?

In solitude
The girl who keenly studies Chemistry
Chapter on mixtures, elements and compounds
She got highest marks in
But she knows not
What she herself is
Still has she the nerve to judge others

And calls herself a human-being.
Yeah, that's what I am.
Rest you shall decide if you can
The good, the bad, the ugly
Where many put their fellow beings!

Pensive, I really like this. Change a few words and it could be any one of us.
I think it's great. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I quite agree with the Grandmother! Such a brave, honest poem, and surely the answer to whether you write for the pleasure of writing or to be noticed is one that each of us could ask ourself, but need it really be one or the other? You resolve the question, in my opinion, by thoroughly meriting the attention you sought.

Bravo!

There is nothing wrong either of these things. As human beings we always been attention seekers :D But if you take either of these things seriously then pain and vanity follows...

Chemistry is a dreadful subjects only boring people study it :D

edit: Poem subject matter is interesting...it is soul searching...i felt it lacked passion but perhaps it is a laid back soul searching...

Wow, how true! I think everyone can relate to this, especially this bit :
'But she knows not
What she herself is
Still has she the nerve to judge others '

Yes, very honest indeed. Honest and strong.

BTW i think it'll be "hear" or "listen to" in the 3rd line of 2nd stanza.

I really liked the way the questions led to the realisations . And i liked the honest tone, hard to miss! Very well done.

Thank you all for the comments. I never thought it would be something near to good but shameless I am on this forum when it comes to displaying my writing. :p Your comments have made me feel good.

I am afraid, symphony, I can't make out what you mean?

Oh what I meant was-
The bird everyone loves to hear to?
Or the demon horrifying the human-kind?
Am I the mixture of both?
Shouldnt that be "listen to" or just "hear"?

Well, you seem to have allowed yourself to branch out into free verse, despite your earlier msigivings. Works beautifully for me. I especially like the bit about studying chemistry.

Oh...'envaded' is not a word. I think you mean 'invaded'.

Pensive, you are really deeply philosophical in expressing your thoughts and in defining what life is yet very poetically and touchingly indeed.

Pensive, this is the best poem I have read by you, I think. I especially liked the following:

In solitude
Ignoring the good, oblivious of bad
Just concerning on myself
About the purity of my being
I think
What am I?
