I have made a search on this forum about Gombrowicz and found practically nothing. I've discovered him a few days ago only and read three short stories by him, one word: amazing. I was so agreeably surprised! My favorite of the short story was Virginity, incredible... I just bought Ferdydurke, which I am going to read when I finish the book I just started (Oblomov).

No one on Gombrowicz? Is this "litterature" forum only about Narnia and Dan Brown?

Personally i've never heard of him and i'm sure many other members of the forum havent either. Even though he's been translated from polish, he might not be that well known but i'm sure that there may be some members here who may have read him that might post here. I'm also sure some may read them now that you've mentioned them and might tell you their opinions, you just have to give them time to respond.:)
If you are interested in getting into discussions about other authors that are discussed here you can find the intire list of available authors and e-texts here http://www.online-literature.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17(not just Dan Brown and Narnia;) )
Welcome to Litnet. I hope you will join in other discussions and get to love this place like the rest of us.

Like to bring this one back up again, Gombrowicz is probably the most criminally underrated author of all time. The first direct from Polish translation of his novel Cosmos was published in I believe 2007 and it's already gone out of print. He is an extremely creative mind, different, genius. Anyone who likes mild surrealism, insane humor, philosophy and paranoia, his books are a must. Anyone who enjoys good literature should at least read up a little about him.

I've read two of his novels, Cosmos and Pornografia, back to back and, in spite of the praise Milan Kundera, through whom I discovered Grombowicz, bestows upon the Polish writer, I can't say I feel like returning to him again.
I simply find his characters boring, their musings and actions boring, and Gombrowicz' style ordinary, in spite of, you know, Berg!
