We've had thunder and lighting yesterday and the night before
I can't remember that last time we had thunder and lightning in Egypt..It was kinda scary, it continued ALL night, I couldn't sleep of course, cuz I kept thinking "I'm gonna die tonight...I'm gonna die tonight" It also rained heavily than ever. I know this might sound silly, but it's HUGE to me...next thing you know, we'll be having snow in Egypt!!!
I just wanted to share this with anyone..lol

My mam and dad are in Majorca at the moment and they had a big T&L storm a couple of days ago. Maybe Egypt got the end of it?
I love a good T&L storm but we done get really good ones here.:(
I got really Jealous of Dublin a few years ago because there was a Massive T&L storm over Dublin and most of the South East of Ireland. I was working on a Dig on the Dundalk Bypass at the time and my sister rang to see if we had been let go home due to the weather and the fact our lunch room etc were in Prefabricated buildings made of metal. The thing was i had to tell her no, we were still on site, there was no T&L in Dundalk, infact the sun was shining and it was so warm we were in T-shirts!:) It was the middle of November.

Nossa, of course nothing can be a better sharing than this, this lively and vital experience of yours livens up my mind. I really am transported to the area where you have undergone this experience. I do not know how hard it has been on you, but the presentation you made highly charged.

@Niamh: I've never even experienced such a thing with somoene who lives in a nearby country, I think it only happened in Egypt..maybe we got the end of that storm, cuz they did say there was gonna be a storm, but you know a storm in Egypt, is a some wind, and maybe a few rain drops..lol
@blazeofglory: Thank you :D I'm glad I got it out of my chest actually..lol
@Lote: Actually, that was kinda the feeling I had. In Islam there's a certain prayer you normaly say if there's rain, so while I was in bed, I kept wondering, does it work when there's thunder?! But I guess that wasn't my dad, for I'm still here, giving ya'll a headache about something, you probably are used to in your own countries..lol

Well, we get frequent thunder and lightning. I guess it's cool. Nothing to be worried about, Nossa. I assume your houses are electrically grounded. My previious dog used to be petrified from the thunder. She would literally crawl into a corner and shake and then with her paw try to dig. Best to turn your computer off and your TV too. They can get damaged if lightning strikes your house.

Really? I don't think I've heard of that. So far, so good, though. Never had any problems with that.
I love a good thunderstorm. But I'd probably have been scared too if I'd never seen one before.

That's why they have those surge protectors. If you don't have a surge protector as a plug in, you definitely need to shut your computer off. I would even unplug it.

Actually, the thunderstorm started at night, round 12:30 or 1:00 am, that's when we're all sleeping. It started with heavy raining at first, and then round 2:30 or so, thunder began. I'm not easily scared by nature, but it was the first time for me to see/hear something like this. To tell you the truth, I thought I was dreaming at first  but then it kept on going till round 8:30 the next morning, and it was still going on when I was on my way to university. The thing that shocked most people is that the day before this starts the weather was hot, and it was sunny all over, and there wasn't even one cloud in the sky, then at night it turned into a storm...lol
But yeah, I think after all it's a good experience, a bit scary, but still cool :D

Very good advice:lol: Last year our power was out for a couple of days, and when it came on again, my power strip melted from the surge. We're having heavy winds and rain moving in here, and I'm about to shut all my electronics down for the day. Each year we have been getting serious power outages because the ground is too wet and the winds get really strong. They're talking 45-50 MPH sustained with higher gusts, so I figure we'll just be playing scrabble or trivial pursuit tonight:D

Oh, I see. We've always had surge protectors, so I guess that's why I've never had to worry about it. My brother usually takes care of such things anyway.

am not sure but it was a good thing the air got clean no more dust ,now it's easier to breath ,i believe you should be grateful for that too i imagine the dust problem is worse in Egypt, right?

I love a good thunderstorm. My Mom was always scared of them and my grandfather always used to say, no reason to be scared unless you have a guilty conscience.. They are pretty frightening if you're not used to them. When I lived in Kansas the first thing people would do in a storm was go outside and watch to see if they could spot tornados.:(
My dog was so scared of storms I would have to take her in the living room, turn on the lights and TV or nobody was sleeping.

Well, dust is a problem in Egypt in certain times of the year, we don't have dusty weather all the time. And I love rain, I was just a bit shocked with the thunder and lightning, but the rain was fine, it rains every winter here, and sometimes in the summer, so it's nothing new really.

Wow! They actually go outside in a thunderstorm?!!
If they do this where you live, then you really don't wanna see me in a thunderstorm. I'm mostly curled up in my bed, putting the pillow on my face, and saying my prayers

I love thunderstorms and heavy rain :)
I love watching the rain (but its not fun when you are outdoors or driving your car) and i really like the smell of rain. But i hate what rain does to my hair
We have lots of thunderstorms where i live. The last one was a week ago..Here it rains very often (not the last few years though :( ). It rains in August too. Many a time in the past i was enjoying my drink in one of the countless bars next to the beach and ended up running for cover
Nossa, i guess you aren't used to it :)

Partly wrong. I live in Patras (Western Greece) which is very humid..same goes for Northern Greece and Ionian islands..In my city it rains almost every day (not the last few years though)..sometimes a month in a row..
The Aegean Islands are quite dry ;)

I'm not..lol...it's the first time I see one in Egypt. I don't wanna make you guys feel like it's a big deal, it's just that I wanted to tell someone about it..someone who isn't living in Egypt, cuz then it'd be old news..lol

This time of year we have lots of thunderstorms in the Ozarks. Fall and spring.
We have been having tornados in the surounding areas too. Nothing close to us but it happens here often. Actually, we had a beautiful thunder and lightening storm the same night you did.
